Looks like a bay dun to me.

ETA: I just realized that neither parent has dun...maybe it is just countershading? Cutie pie, either way!

The more I look at him the more it screams "silver bay dun" to me......I will get new pics tomarrow but he definately has a DARK prominant dorsal stripe that is black and seems to have the bars on his shoulders like a donkey does? I'm pretty sure he's carrying silver as his legs are a lighter blue color, not black like a bay although his mane and tail are jet black?

No matter what color, he's exactly what I wanted conformation wise and I am in love with my little man. You can see all of his antics on the cam =) We're still expecting two more so you guys can watch them too - they are 318 & 307 days along today.

Ahhhh, this is so much better than my 2010 tragedy of losing my precious "Rain" due to a red bag delivery. RIP Rain I know you are the guardian angel of my foaling barn.

Congrats on the new foal!!!! Bay, not silver though-almost all bay foals are born with lighter legs (same with all colors with black points) and that's because in the wild they would need to be able to hide from predators so their coloring is a bit muddled until they shed the baby fuzz. I think the dorsal is countershading too, but you'll be able to tell better when the baby fuzz comes off. That's my favorite time of the year-getting to shave the foals because I've always got a new horse afterwards!

Anyway, glad you have a healthy, beautiful little foal to start off your foaling season!

Awww, I love him

Congratulations! I've been following along on Marestare also and I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED IT!!! I just dozed off for a few seconds it seemed and there he was...

He looks great, looking forward to watching him grow. I'm voting bay also, the silver bay filly we had a few years ago was grayish-brown in body color with a very light mane and tail.

I just have to add, I know you were hoping for a lot of color from your LWO+ stallion but seeing what you got gave me lots of hope!! My stallion just tested LWO+ and homozygous for tobiano which would make most ppl very happy but I am NOT a pinto fan LOL (I don't mind the LWO+ so much as I love face white and leg white, but I don't like much, if any, body white) I bought him because of his quality, despite the fact he was pinto. So I was SO BUMMED to get his results but then seeing your baby reminded that even though he's LWO+ and homozygous he could still throw MINIMAL pinto, which I love

And then I was happy again

So, thank you!

he's gorgeous, and i love the name! he looks like a bay dun. a dorsal stripe that bold with shoulder barring screams dun to me, even if his parents dont carry it.

He is just beautiful, well done Sugar and katie too. Thanks for finding time to put up photos.

I vote Bay as well, He doesn't look like a Dun to me.

Shauna - That is SOOO Awesome on Sparrow's Test Results!!!

If you ever get Bored of him you can send him my way

Thanks guys so much for all the compliments!! No matter his color, he's a nice looking boy and that's what matters!

His sire is LWO+ and dam is LWO- however I believe that this little man may be LWO+ and just minimally marked, as I know LWO can "hide" easily from human eyes so he will DEFINATELY be tested soon to see what's going on there genetically so I know for sure what I am dealing with.

I am just smitten
