Of course all the land is you see is NOT ours! LOL!! Our land is in the front of the house. In the summer it's so nice and green and I love sitting at the dining room table eating breakfast watching the big horses down below grazing away.

We are planning to move, hopefully within the next 18 months and I am not sure what kind of view we'll have in the future. I've had views of these moutains from various houses over the last 28 years. Would certainly be strange if we end up someplace that we can't see them anymore!

The white manufactured home on 10 acres (which is almost dead center) is for sale for $1.8 MILLION!!

Man oh man, we are praying it sells for close to that.

Can only help us. Our property is MUCH better than theirs and has much more in the way of structures (huge shop, barn, 3 car garage).

Just thought I'd share. The sun isn't shining, but it's the best view we've had of ALL the mountains in weeks.

WOW! That is sooooooo cool that it almost looks fake! AMAZING

That's wonderful! I hope that your neighbors' place does sell for what they are asking, I can imagine that it would be great for you.

Our new place has a beautiful view too, it's worth looking for when you do move.

Maybe more people can post pics of the views they have, I've seen many previously posted that were also stunning.

We have a similar view (plus includes even more mountains!) -- not sure how many miles away we are from you, Kathy. Ashamed to say I've never been to your place, you've always been the one to trek out to US.

It was a joy to wake up this morning to the sight of "pink" mountains as the sun rose. It was lovely.

BTW, Kathy is not joking about real estate in this region. We've just been informed by our former realtor that our property has TRIPLED in value just since we bought it a year and a half ago!
new_shocked.gif
Both he and another real estate agent have approached us twice to see if we would pack up and sell again!

What's happening out here is that there are destination resorts being planned all over the place and it's eating up the farm lands.

Kathy, I have a feeling you will do okay when it comes time to put your place on the market......Meanwhile, enjoy the view!

You are so lucky l would kill to have a view like that instead of flat and treeless.

WOW just a couple of years ago a horse farm near here sold for a million two. Of course that included 1500 acres and three houses [one of which had 57 rooms] and 4 stables and a dairy barn.

Wow Kathy!!!! :new_shocked: I would love a view like that. Here in Michigan its a little sunny. But not by much. Well good luck with moving.

Kathy-I was looking at the mountains thinking, "Hmmm...that looks like our mountains. Ahem...I guess even though we live a half hour away we are still looking at the same mountains.

MA-Your property value HAS tripled I'm sure since you moved in. We have lived here 3 years and ours has. And, PLEASE....don't remind me of destination resort #4 moving in to our area. I am still sick about that. There will be more people living in those homes at the destination resorts than lived in ALL of Powell Butte before they moved in. Sickening! (Except for the property values that is

. Let's find 300 acres outside of town and build our homes at opposite ends. We would still be farther away from each other than we are now probably. LOL!

Wow that is a nice view!!!

I have a view of Trojan in the winter... so I like your view much, much better!!

LOL!! Yes, Debra, I would think we are looking at the SAME Cascade Mountain Range! LOL!! :new_rofl:

But, can I please, please, puh-leeeeze buy into the 300 acres with you and MA???? We are looking to buy out that way IF we can find anything AFFORDABLE and that won't be near a new resort (is there anyplace left???).

Yes, I didn't mention before that it is the beautiful Cascade Mountain Range, from the eastern side. Absolutely GORGEOUS in the spring with the beautiful crisp blue skies as the backdrop for the snowy white mountains. If I remember come spring, I'll snap a pic to show you. The view in this pic wasn't that great, was very cloudy. I was just happy to see that they were still there!!

That is so beautiful! I have always loved Central OR, and each of those mountains is like a friend, somehow.

Thanks for the picture, we usually visit in Summertime, and so don't often get to see them in Winter clothes.

I, too, am saddened by the apparent overdeveloping in some places, and hope it doesn't get too out of control. It sure has changed from when we first began to go there in the early 80s even.

The view here is definitely worth a million bucks. The unfortunate part is everyone is discovering that rather quickly and are all moving here. There really isn't much irrigated ground left to purchase in Powell Butte that is, unless the folks that own the farmland move out when the resorts start going up. Oh yeah, the resorts are buying up all the farmland. Then I guess the answer would be nope, won't be anything left.
default_wink.png
:

The surrounding areas are getting gobbled up fast too and Prineville looks to be the next Powell Butte. We moved here to get away from the traffic of Portland and w/n three years it has really picked up here too. Gee...I wonder if it will get worse when the resorts move in? You think?
default_rolleyes.gif
: Guess it's time to look into that 300 acres afterall.

I recognize that view! I spent a week in St Charles Hospital where Dr Hinz kindly put my foot back together for the 3rd time! Real estate in Southern Oregon has easily tripled in the past few months too!

Hmmmm.....pretty tall order! We need to find 300 acres, views of the mountains (of course), AND irrigation!

WHERE are we going to find all that these days???? Oh! How about Madras!

And we might even be able to afford it there. Well, that is if we have 1 million each. How many horses did you sell this year? LOL!

Yes, that is the EXACT view from the hospital! We are just due east of the hospital (it's between us and the mountians). Once upon a time if you were given a mountain view at St. Charles, it was because you were terminal! :new_shocked: I know it's not that way now, but it used to be before all the additions. My dad had an awesome view in his last days. Was very peaceful...

LOL!!!!! Well, MA and Debra, if Madras is the choice I may have to opt out. I grew up there, but would NEVER raise my kids there NOW. Totally different place. I have friends who've stayed there and are teachers and work in the community. They are all looking for ways out. The gangs are horrid, the school system is going down the drain because of the gangs. The mexicans have become enemies to the indians. So very sad. In my day, the indians were sooooo nice and peaceful (and many were close friends), but not any more with the gangs that moved in and forced them to make their own gangs. There is a reason land is so much cheaper in that area still (I've been watching land prices weekly for a year in all of Central Oregon).

Ironic thing is, as a teen in Madras, we considered Prineville "hooterville" :bgrin and would NEVER want to live there over where we were. Now, today as an adult? I would move to the Prineville area over Madras in a heartbeat! LOL!!!!

I just love that Powell Butte area you guys are in. So green and pretty. Just too bad the resorts had to start coming in so bad. Alfalfa is still open though, probably only until Brasada is done though. A couple years ago, there was 250 acres in Alfalfa, a cattle ranch for $650,000. OH how I wish we'd bought that!!!!!!! It was all green pasture and just gorgeous. Can only imagine what it would go for now.

Trust me, Kathy..... My tongue was in my cheek when I brought up Madras!

:

We used to think of Prineville the same way as you.....you know what the joke about Prineville used to be, don't you?

"When folks in Prineville went to do their Family Tree, all they could come up with was a TRUNK!"

Now, I'm finding myself shopping there, Bri is going to school there......and I have to admit it has changed.

MA

Well, at least the land is being bought for resorts. Thats not as bad as here in Southern CA where all the farmland is being bought for millions more homes

I don't know how they can build houses so fast and so close together here but boy, do they manage
