I am posting a link to a short segment from a recent Howard Stern Radio show. For clarity---I do NOT listen to nor care for what I know of Howard Stern, but do appreciate that there was enough journalistic integrity 'there' for this segment to air--as it is my GUESS that he would qualify as a liberal, politically? That said, there is something to consider here, no matter WHO you support, IMO.

I received this link from an old friend from high school days. I found it concerning, to put it mildly. It is AUDIO only, so be sure your volume is up to allow you to hear it.

That is sad.

A friend of mine sat back the other day and said "If the voters of this country vote in Obama, they will deserve what they get"...how true. We all will suffer, but we will as a country deserve it.

I just can't get over this..OMG..this country is toast..and these are the same people who have the gut to call McCain not informed! UN-freaking believable..

I didn't listen to all of it but you might take into considerating the location (neighborhood) and level of education of the individuals surveyed.

I really give a hoop where they are or their level of education..their vote count as much as Dr. Smith's..

It would almost be funny if it weren't so darned serious. Lilstepper is 100% correct.....it doesn't matter where they're from or their level of education, their vote counts the same as yours and mine despite their obvious lack of knowledge about their candidate of choice.

I truely doubt these individuals have the integrity or intelligence to fill out a ballot

Would you be as horrified and feel that the country is going to destruct if the survey were taken of McCain in an equally uneducated low standard of living white area?

I don't understand why this would surprise you. Many people aren't aware of facts and this guy obviously has not checked things out for himself otherwise he would have known that those policies are McCain and not Obama. Heck, there are some that think Obama is a muslim, an arab, a terrorist, etc

. They truly believe that and have no proof but that is what they believe and want to believe, so nothing surprises me anymore. And your right, they all have a right to vote in your election and that IS very scary. Voting without all the facts and checking things out, not good. JMHO.

YES I would be..I think there should be some kind of questioning that vote..if they even have a clue for what they vote..ANYWHERE..and ANYBODY

I think what ticks me imost is the TONE of voice..

You know..people like to look so smart..IF I don't understand something..or don't know what I am talking about..I ASK..and you might be surprised if you ask..the person whoi asked you has NO clue either..

No tone intended, just a question

Again, it's all in how a person interprets things.

Oh No..I didn't mean your tone..you make some good points..I am talking about the tone of the people that got interviewed!

It is a shame but I am willing to be if you asked the same questions to 25 people..... almost anywhere... you would get some pretty dumb answers

from a couple of them...Some people never read a newspaper or watch the news..

But they sure know where a huge sale in the mall is going on..or if Madonna is eating fried chicken..you know all the IMPORTANT stuff

I have a friend who could not tell you where either candidate stands on any issue. She will be voting for McCain only because her family is republican and always has been. They do not care who it is or what they plan on doing, only that they are republican. It really irks me because these are very smart people in every other way.

Please, listen closely to the entire segment...Howard Stern introduces it, and says what the premise is...it has to do with not just WHO people are voting for, but WHY they say they are doing so....the questioner is apparently connected with the Stern show; he KNOWS whose policies are whose, but is deliberately transposing them to see what answers his questions will elicit. Three people are interviewed by this man on the segment. All sound very sincere in their answers, do they not? And yet...

At its core, I don't believe this(admittedly very 'tiny') poll was really about uninformed voters. I think we would all agree that there are PLENTY of those, from every education, income level, and walk of life. I also have known of a number of people over time who ALWAYS 'vote the party', no matter what...I don't agree with that practice, but know there are those who do it.

As for the question about being as 'horrified' if the premise were being examined in a different group of people, as described by the quesioner...personally, yes, I would be...because of the impetus BEHIND the kind of answers being given. Whether the 'reason' given for voting for (whoever) reveals a TOTAL lack of knowledge about the candidate OR the issues, OR comes because of a wish to 'hide' the real reason--well, EITHER, IMO, is just as frightening--no matter who it is coming from.

Just my honest opinions.

Margo

I'll give you a better (more like worse) example of clinging to party lines. I have a neighbor (older man, life long Democrat, very staunch union man) who has told me more than once "I sure hate to vote for that n....... Guess I'll just vote for his white half." I just figure our votes will cancel one another out.
