The fuel is going to be badly needed to transport goods across the country that people really need. Please keep this in mind. Mary

Uhmmm, What I said is very clear.

Don't read more into it than what is there.

What you do is your business and I don't tell others what they "should" do. You know what is most important to you so go and enjoy! Mary

Are you trying to say that we should all not go to Nationals, to conserve fuel???

Sorry, but I've been planning this trip for a full year (since last year's Nationals) and I'm GOING.

BTW, friends of mine owns a trucking company and they say that their drivers have not come across ANY fuel shortages or rationing, in their coast to coast trips.

It may be "very clear" to you, but I have no idea what you are trying to say by that, then.

"the fuel is going to be badly needed to transport goods across the country that people really need. Please keep this in mind". that's your quote. Do you mind telling us just what you DO mean then?

I don't know what you are trying to do,

but if you have a problem with what is said I can't solve it for you. I meant what I said, nothing else , nothing more, nothing less!! So take it for what ever you want .....for all I know you may have taken what was said personally. Just let it go since it wasn't said to you, personally. Mary

We are still going! We have way too much time, energy and money invested into this not to go. We will start to pack this weekend and then get the horses shaved, bathed and ready to leave on Thursday morning. I hope we have no problems finding gas along the way, we are more fortunate than others since we live in a neighboring state and not as far as others have to go. See everyone there.

Drive careful.

We still plan to go to the World show in TX, except we will probably have to go all the way up to Macon and then across which will add a couple more hours to the trip.

We did however cancel our weekend trip to NC because of the shortages. Plus we wanted to do our part to help conserve fuel. We will go when the fuel situation is better, and it will be, it will just take some time.

But I could not believe the people filling up boats and RV's I guess to travel this holiday weekend. My husband seen SUV's packed up with 4 and 5 gas cans on the back in those bumper hauler thingys. He works as a driver and was on a VERY packed and congested I-75 yesterday, he could not believe the traffic.

I can understand going to things that are already pre-paid, or to important things.

But just going boating or camping this weekend seems selfish and wasteful, maybe I have been watching to much news and have gotten to "close" to the situations in MS. But I have trouble even falling asleep knowing those poor people do not even have a bed to lay in.

Well put Mary. I couldn't agree more.

I know a lot of you have put months of work and training into getting ready for these shows; but, in my opinion, the shows should be postponed (if not cancelled). I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but there's no way this crisis can be compared to 9-11. We are in a national crisis (not a threat of terrorist activity) and everybody is being asked to conserve fuel.

I will say this again.. there is no fuel shortage other then in the immeadiate areas every report I have heard from CNN says that production will be back to at least 80 percent of normal by today.

I know some of you want to think anyone going to nationals is trivial and selfish ect.. but the reality is many make there living this way. How is a trainer( who makes there money by getting horses to this point) losing money and not being able to feed there own families going to help anyone?

Some show for more then fun (while showing should be fun for everyone) some show simply cause horses are there business and at this point and time cant afford to not have any business.

Now non of that takes away from what is going on in the south east- the one thing we can all agree on is that help is needed there be it animal or human.

Everyone will have to do what they are able and feel comfortable with to help be it donating, going to help for those close enough- some make extrodinary efforts to get there and help themselves. I knwo that the images we are seeing are effecting all of us making us feel so helpless- but there is no one answer that works for everyone when it comes to helping. Most of us most go on with our business it may bring in big bucks it may just bring in enough to provide feed for our animals for the year- it may involve going to shows it may be being a trucking company but bottom line is we all have to support our own families while doing what we can to help JMO

I *did* take my motorhome in a put $100.00 worth of fuel in it. With a 100 gallon tank I can't afford to fill it right now, but that will get it to Nationals for us (3 hours). This is not a strictly neccessary trip, but with several people going, we can't afford motel rooms for all of us, so we take the motorhome, which is the whole reason we *have* it. Filling up purely to go cruise down and down the road in these time of trouble in this country, I'm not doing that...
