Recently attended the employee health fair where free screenings are provided from various medical treatment providers. I took something called the grip test which basically tests the strength in your hand and fore arm. I was off the charts on the topside! The guy that tested me told me to keep doing whatever it is that you are doing. Tee-hee. So, the carrying water buckets, lifting square bales, scooping manure, pushing a wheel barrel, and brushing horses has a health benefit (along with making my backside hurt). Normal range for me should have been in the 50's or 60's. I scored 100. Also got results of other screenings in the mail this week from one of the providers. They were great. Of course the fact that a month ago I started a healthy diet to lose weight and tone up likely played a part in it. Cholesterol was 98 (normal is <200), triglycerides were 150 (normal is 30-200), glucose was 69 (normal is 70-115). So here is more on the grip test which was totally unheard of by me before.http://www.topendsports.com/testing/tests/handgrip.htm

I get things in the mail for health screenings and I really need to go! I never heard of the hand grip thing either! i bet they'll find a LOT of horse women with HIGH scores on that
