I have a mare, Cookie, who has had 2 foals ..one carried 365 days the other 367 days...according to my records she started bagging up at day 345 and 349....Cookie is currently due March 13th and has a bag!!!! Is this a good sign that she may break her pattern and foal more timely? what is your e xperience with mares that follow a pattern or is there no pattern? Thank you for any input..I tell ya I am soooooo excited..only a horse person gets excited over a filling udder eh?

Was she bred to a different stallion?? I have found that makes a difference for some odd reason. For example I have a mare that bred to a certain stallion for 3 years. All were about exactly the same. Year four I bred her to a different stallion and she foaled earlier then with stallion number one. I have seen this happen a few times but always when they were bred to a different stallion

Sending good thoughts for a happy easy foaling

I certainly wish there was a pattern!

No matter what my mares have done in the past they have a habit here of keeping me guessing. One thing for certain, watch your mare.

If the mare' bag is larger and harder in the pm than the am, she is getting close to foaling.

the first 2 were different stallions so I guess it is just her. Her bag is getting bigger.....but her teats are still together..she is one of those mares that goes from big bag to BIG sticky bag and foals that day..so...we will see...she is my first one this year...so, pretty excited...put the cameras up today and have them on 3 mares. Hubby bought me a cool hand held camera that swivels....I put it between two stalls and can watch 2 mares.....just push the button and it moves...what fun is that!
