I've been noticing a few mouse droppings out in my barn since the cooler weather set in. When I saw one running along a board, I knew it was time to act. I loaded up four mouse traps with peanut butter and set them out there. I caught one or two and then two last night, one today at lunch time and one just now. Makes me wonder exactly how many are out there. I re-baited all the traps and will keep them out there with fresh peanut butter. That's like six now in just a couple of days. EWWWWW.

Or a rat terrier!

They are so cute in pictures, but my goodness they are destructive. I was visiting someone last month in NM and we were back in her workshop. My foot kept sticking to something and I looked down and it was a glue trap--with a mouse on it. Well, I was very calm, got my foot off the glue, and pushed it out of the way so I wouldn't step on it (or look at it!) anymore.

And, I caught another one last evening when I tucked everyone in for the night. That makes 5 of those little guys in one day. I also found a dead mole in the yard that one of the cats had killed. Since I was burning brush in my burn barrel, they just went right in the fire. My farrier came yesterday while I was doing all this mouse/mole burning and he said he wouldn't eat anything from my house again if it was on a stick and had little feet. LOL

Hmmm, the mice must be coming out everywhere this year........I did not see or and indications of mice last year (first year with new barn and minis) but twice this past week I found one dead in their stall water bucket!!! Yikes and Yuck!!!! Not sure how they would crawl down to bucket and then fall in???? I could see one falling in but a 2nd one another day, strange!! We do have a cat and lots of neighborhood cats so they all better get with it and do their job!!!

You are seeing more mice now due to the horses and their feed (and possibly weather changes).

Hubby is hauling in our big rounds of hay for the cows, and with it comes mice; we have lots of barn cats and they keep the numbers down.

PB is an excellent choice as they tend to be able to spring the trap and swipe the cheese. The best mouse deterrent is a cat. I have a four legged verminator "crew" in my barn, we call them the itty bitty mouse watching committee.

I caught another two mice yesterday. I think my total is up to like.....um....14 now. What's up with that? I guess I'm just going to have to keep my traps baited and in place all the time. I had no idea I had that many out there. Of course, I've got 100 bales of hay stored in my barn so I'm not surprised.
