Grandaughter and her new passion - long distance running

Makayla has joined my son Richard in some long distance running for charitable causes. Her first race was 5k race and I never thought she would do it but she did!!!! Her second one was easier, 1k race. Here are a few pics

Our son just started running in the last year or two. He has completed 2 or 3 regular 26+ marathons, the flying monkey all terrain marathon in Nashville and an all terrain ultra-marathon in Birmingham, AL this past spring. He loves rock climbing and also cycled for Vanderbilt's Cycling team his freshman & sophomore years. He starts his senior year next month. He would be thrilled if his children (someday) would do those things with him.

Thats wonderful she likes running and what a pretty girl you must be proud...both my girls started out running the smaller marathons around the age of 10 both are around 30 now so it's been a long time for them and thousands of marathons. This weekend my oldest one is running in the 150K Death Race up in Grande Cache the younger one couldn't get the 4 days of so isn't going with her and is pouting. They have marathon runners come for the Death Race from around the world and it's the one they gear up and practice for all year. l won't relax till she's home next week l've seen some of them in past years and the shape there in after and it's scary...plus the requirement that all runners have to carry bear spray always gives me the creeps..

Danielle, I can't believe how "grown up" Makayla is getting to be already! Such a pretty young girl, and with such a zest for life already at this tender age, I can only imagine what her future will bring!
