For those that dont know I am currently 30 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I woke up and was a little naseuated which has been happening with me off and on so its nothing new. My back also hurt but yet again was nothing new. I started getting sick yesterday afternoon and then I started to hurt more in my back area. I decided that I should go to the ER to get checked out in case something was wrong, even though I felt okay just a little ill. Got to the hospital at about 9:00 last night and they immediatly hooked me up to the machine to monitor for contractions, and the babys heartbeat. The nurse right after hooking me up asked me if I hurt, felt uncomfortable or anything and I said no. She got a funny look on her face but said okay. An hour later they look at the readouts and tell me that they contacted my OB doctor and needed to do some test and hook me up to fluids. Said I was having contractions on a regular basis, basically about 5 minutes apart. Needless to say I did start to feel some contractions but not that many. They did a pelvic on me and determined that I was already 2 cm dialated and my cervix was about 50% thinned. Thankfully though with the fluids and everything the contracitions got to where they wernt so frequent, barely feel any now, and they let me go. When I saw the OB today she said that the test they did basically based on studies said that there was a 99.3 % chance I wouldnt deliver withen the next two weeks. I am now stuck on bedrest and this time cant avoid it. Thankfully all is well with the baby though and I am now doing a lot better. Just tired because I havent been able to get much sleep.

how scary. YOu know it has been along time but I did go thru that with my oldest and I seem to remember they doctor telling me to make sure I stayed really hydrated. I am not sure why and not even sure I am remembering right

Enjoy your bed rest now while you can at least

Keeping hydrated is important because being dehydrated can cause contractions to start. Thankfully I was able to get to the hospital in time for them to stop it. The doctor is hoping she waits at least 4 weeks before she decides to come. I am hoping that as well. My SO wants her to come on the 21st because thats his birthday lol

: I dont care when she comes as long as its after the 4 week period and she is healthy. In spite of things though I never did get stressed out or worried. I think it suprised the nurse but oh well I rather be a calm person then a freaking out nut. Stress itself can cause problems so I try to avoid it and take things day by day

The good news is that you may just end up with back labor! That's a whole lot more funner than regular labor. :aktion033:

You know you have to drink so start drinking and lay off the salt too by the way.

Now, if this starts to happen again, please do not panic. Just go back to the ER or call 911 if you have to but remain calm.

Get thee to bed young lady and be well rested to bring that beautiful life into this world.

I went thru the same thing with my daughter. I was in bed for 3 weeks and then she came. The Dr told me to go ahead and have about 3 oz of red wine before bed to help me sleep. Ask..maybe it will help relax you. Now just rest and think happy thoughts and let us know if we can help. Prayers for comfort coming your way.

Marty that is just plain mean.......I went through that oh so "funner" back labor with my first who also presented facing the wrong direction so he bashed my spine with his skull every contraction......oh yeah with him they induced after 13 hours non productive labor...did I mention I am anti drugs so it was au natural...you got it induced back labor no pain killers no epidural...gee I wonder why I couldn't walk for 6 weeks

Take it EASY...which means stay off of the computer, unless you have a laptop you can take to bed

: No dishes, no cooking, baths instead of showers or very quick showers. I was on bedrest for several weeks with Mia-mine. Read, watch TV and just REST. It's easier than you would think. Just think of it as saving sleep up for later
