Last year, the day after Halloween I bought some pumpkin "cones". The plastic pumpkin buckets that kids use for trick or treating go on clearance at Walmart for like 25 cents or something. I bought some last year and will be going to get more this year

Just wanted to pass it along for anyone wanting some thrifty "cones" for driving.

Another form of cheap "cones" are semi-filled plastic milk cartons. Reuse the cartons and then when they are plowed over a number of times, recycle them!

It is a good idea, however, to get at least one set of "official" cones if you are going to go in a show that uses them. They "drive" a bit differently (read you can bump them and not necessarily dislodge the ball). I know that practicing with the "real thing" helped my cone driving tremendously.

I use spray painted 2 litre plastic pop bottles with a bit of sand in them. I do have a few sets of cones as well, but the pop bottles sure make it easier on the pocket book.

I like the Halloween cones! Very festive and cheap! My mare comes home from training on Friday! Yippeee! Will start her on pumpkins, oops, cones, right away!

Great ideas! I am going to try to make some cones. I was pricing cones and this is so much of a thriftier way of the newbie getting some practice on cones. thanks

All I want is cheap, easily-visible, heavy markers to drive around so bright-colored halloween "cones" sound like a great idea! Thanks.

I giggle at the thought of us all across the country with a shopping cart of plastic pumpkins

I saw yesterday that my store had a lot of blue this year. Although they arent the easiest to store- I just put a rock in them and put them aroun the perimeter of my round pen when they are not in use.
