IMO - If you're old enough to buy beer - you're old enough to buy your own candy!! This year we had way too many adults out trick & treating.

Example - TOO OLD - 2 women - probably about 24 - 25 hauling around a 6 month old baby (no costumes - and I may add no underwear!!) and trick or treating. Can you say GREEDY!!

Example - TOO STUPID - a pretty young lady in a group of about 5-6 kids around 14/15 years old - her costume was a black hoodie, tight tight short shorts, and pajama bottoms around her ankles

Exmaple - TOO SCARY - boys 16 17 years old, taller than me, with a little make up and pillow cases - I asked them to do a trick and the one said - we'll burn down your house -- he then thought better of that remark, and said no wait that was last night - guess we don't have any tricks. Give them candy and send them on their way.

What happened to the little kids in cute costumes!!

I was at walmart last night during their trick or treat, and there was a kid dressed up as the doll from saw on a red tricycle...im all of 20 years old and it scared the crap out of me, just to creepy.

We took the kids to trick or treat on the square in our local tiny town at 4:30. It was great, but we live WAY out and asked for suggestions on where to T or T and it was suggested we go to the next, larger town. It was only 5:00 pm, so nothing was going on yet, so we kept going to Fayetteville and MALL-O-WEEN as a last resort . At dusk, in great neighboorhoods all over town we saw ONE couple with 2 little bitty kids. No one had lights on and the neighborhoods were deserted...it was so depressing! We went to the mall and had a great time. I guess that's where everyone was...sure is different from when we were kids

We live 30 miles from the largest town that has several malls........All the malls stay open late for Halloween and the kids line up and parade by the stores to get candy from the employee(s) sitting at the doorways......

In the town closest to us (10 miles) there is a "Harvest Festival" at the county fairgrounds with games for the kids to play........Things like "pin the stem on the pumpkin" and toss the ping pong ball in the cups.......etc.......to win candy - whether you win or not!

We've opted for the Harvest Festival for the last four years now.

What happened to the little kids in cute costumes!!

I think every year the little kids trick or treating get less and less...people are afraid to have their kids out and/or afraid to let children eat candy from strangers...I'm only 39 and things were way different even when I was younger. I don't know if the world is really that different, or if we just hear about bad things more...I tend to lean that it's a different world.

I was at my parents for Halloween, we only had about 20 kids come by this year way down from 75 we got last year and the year before. A lot of parents take their kids to large subdvisions to go trick or treating. Our own relatives with small kids never even came by this year! they always do but not this year it was very disapointing.

well less kids means more left over candy for me anyway!

All the kids that did come were very nice and they all said thank you. We did have annoying teenage girls that wouldn't leave and kept telling us how great our pumpkins looked, that would have been fine but they came very very late we were in the middle of watching a movie and they were very very loud. And my dad's car that was parked on the road got egged.

We saw a bunch of older children and young adults. We had to walk out and around quite a few clusters by going into the street. We heard some colorful and tasteless conversations from a couple of them. Things sure has changed!

I hauled around my 6 month old baby last year to trick or treat. It was his first halloween. He was dressed up as a skunk (and my hubby and I were not dressed up). Only hit a few houses so that he got his first experience of halloween. I wouldn't call that greedy for candy.

People loved seeing him dressed up.

We took our son to my sister's neighborhood this year. Tons of participating houses and tons of kids. My biggest thing is that some kids were dressed pretty skimpy (the girls). Why would parents even let their 8-10 year old girls out of the house dressed so skimpily???

School shopping with the outfits available for pre-teen girls is hard enough, halloween shopping is next to impossible...notice Mia's covered head to toe in the pics on Connie's post?~LOL I saw LOTS of little girls in stuff I would never allow if they were 16!!!

When I was trick or treating, we ran wild through the neighborhoods until well after midnight in a big pack of kids of all ages. We took care of each other and everyone knew each other's parents and what would get us in trouble, so we behaved... for the most part

The difference here is that you had a costume on your baby, and only went to a few houses. This girl had a whole sack full of candy, and no costume at all. unless you count dressing like a tramp?? These 2 were clearly out to get candy for themselves. Please do not take offense where none was intended.

Sorry, didn't know the baby wasn't dressed up! Sheesh! My MIL had an older lady (30 something) come to her door with 2 pillow cases. Said she was trick or treating for her and her sister (who was too embarrassed to come). No kidding! I'd be embarrassed to go trick or treating at that age too! I'm guessing it was a truth or dare type deal, but who knows?? I guess with the way the economy is, might as well try and get free candy???

Since we live in the country now we never get any. But before my mil passed away, I used to go to her house and answer the door for her. If the trick or treaters weren't in too big a hurry, I'd ask them in so she could see their costumes. Everyone seemed to be having so much fun--including my mil!

I have refused candy to teenaged boys before that came to the door with NO costume. I don't ask for much--a bandana around his head or a pair of wax lips! If he's too stressed out to wear a little costume, he doesn't need any more sugar anyway. (Maybe it's an idea of have a few wax vampire teeth on hand and offer one to a costumeless kid.)

If any had said they would burn my house down, I would have told them they were on camera--with sound recording!

I wouldn't expect a parent carrying a toddler or infant to be in costume.

What other night can you dress up, run around in the dark, and get candy!! I think it's great that a day with ghoulish, scary beginnings turned out to be so harmless and playful. Hope it stays that way.
