Has anyone ever heard of Gold Seal World Class as a registry?

Well, I think (?) AMHR and AMHA were started by groups of people, and run by committees. Not one person who "works" WCMHR when she has time or feels like it. AMHR and AMHA have boards of directors and gets votes from their members. WCMHR does not. It's a one woman game. No different than if I started the Whinny For Me Registry, except if I did, I would send papers to everyone who paid for them and within a reasonable amount of time, too.

My main concern though with WCMHR and Gold Seal is that many newbies to minis have paid significant amounts for what they thought were registered horses, only to discover how worthless WCMHR and Gold Seal papers are to most serious miniature horse people.

I don't know about AMHA, but AMHR has members vote? REALLY??? LOL! I suppose if you have the money and can travel to their big meetings that you might be able to vote..hmmm...

Well, anyway, I stick to what I wrote before, they do have their place, and the papers are worth something if you want to show at their big show or just keep track of your unregistered horses. Also, they are having more shows now, and there is a club that is now affiliated with WCMHR that has a board and all..

What I was saying about it just being one persons idea is that no matter how many board members they now have, it was originally one persons idea..the idea came first, then the registry. Who knows... one day they might be big enough to have a board. Those boards might be part of the reason that these registries were started in the first place. Ya know how too many cooks spoil the soup?

I know of another registry that is the same way..the half Quarter Horse Registry. I "know" the lady who started that..is it any good? Probably no better than World Class or Gold Seal, but it's there is someone wants to use it.

Well, I think we have very different points of view! But neither of us just came by our opinions on a whim. It's pretty cool to be able to share what we think, and why, on this message board

................ .Through the years I have heard this from several people. People paid for a service/product that they never did receive & no explanations as to why.........Isn't that how scams operate?... Why don't you all get together & do something about it? Is this still happening to other people today?

I hope people here mean that the papers are worthless and not the horses because that would be a very close minded thing to say. All horses in the world are good at something- it's just finding out what it is.

Gold Seal was started by a specific farm many years ago. A few farms did that so that when they had big production sales the horses atleast had some papers. Gold Seal never caught on with anyone else outside of the farm that I know of (or only got minimal support outside the original farm).

World Class is a good registry that is popular on the mid east coast with an increase each year I believe. They have a show schedule with Nationals of there own. I'm too far away but I get the club info on them and it seems like a family friendly fun club/registry.

AMHA and AMHR are the "top two" I believe. I also want to throw out that the FMHA (Falabella registry) is also a reliable registry. It doesn't have the growth of the A and R because it only registers Pure Falabellas and now has a part Falabella (Falabella Blend) branch just as the Arabians have the half-arab branch. Pure Falabellas are still rare. They are part of the foundations of both registries and is still going strong today with increase in horses every year and, personal opinion, increase in quality. It's also a bit different than other mini registries as it's based on bloodlines and not height.

PtHA is also a good registry. It's part of the Pinto Horse Association. They have a good show schedule and other programs for pinto owners (horses of all sizes).

Boy, I could right a book but time to pick my daughter up at school!

I can promise you that *I* mean the WCMHR and Gold Seal papers are worthless, NOT the animal.

I will second you Jill :aktion033: !! There are nice ones in the registery just like grades, there are several NICE "minis" around here who are just grade, but it just costs so much to hardship, I personally can't see buying one to breed with, or show, unless it was just a WOW WOW WOW horse, and even then, its still hard.... but overall a horses "papers alone" doesn't make him/her.

Add me to the long list of people who sent money to World Class and never got papers. They took my money, six months I did get an e-mail after I pestered them saying "we're working on it" and I never heard from them ever again.

The papers are WORTHLESS (not the horse... the horse is worth as much as any other grade horse).

All horses in the world are good at something- it's just finding out what it is.
That statement is the close brother of:

"If I want to breed a few horses every year for my personal pleasure and my breeding stock is garbage, it's MY business!"

I kinda second that in ... ALL OF US WHO BREED be it one foal or 100 foals for whatever reasons, whatever quality and yes of course this includes myself... well lets be honest few of us can keep all those foals over the years forever and really SOMEONES foals are ending up in slaughter yes even minis it happens all the time. Trust me it is not always the other guys horses, or only the pet quality horses, or only the solid color horses, or the ones bought for 300 bucks not the 3500 dollar ones. So it is only a matter of time till that "someones" foals become ours grown up, run thru an auction, and ending up with a meat buyer

just like most other things in life we all say it wont happen to me, or my horses or my breeding but again just like most other things in life that it wont happen to me is usually proven wrong.

Yes I am part of the problem as I breed as well I am not pointing fingers without one pointing right back at me but it has been something I think very heavily about. We all know to get that great foal there are many good enough, avg or pet foals made I am not saying I will choose to never breed again or that no one else should breed again either. However for me personally I am choosing to breed less and do the most I can for these horses before they are sold to give them the best chance they can have and then do the only thing we can do - hope for them a wonderful life.

If you go by a registry doing people wrong for making them worthless, then I am sure there are several who would say the same about AMHA or AMHR. I have had paperwork problems with AMHR almost every time I send something in. So I just stopped using them, I don't show AMHR anymore, won't register any more horses with them, I feel they are useless to what I am doing. That doesn't mean there isn't a place for AMHR in the industry, just means I don't like them. World Class is trashed and trashed and trashed over and over again every time the registry is brought up. We all know the ones on here that hate them, its very obvious. But how long ago was your problems? Has anyone dealt with them recently? Has any progress been made to correct the problems they have? I know I leased out a gelding to a family about three weeks before the World Class show and they got him registered with no problems and were able to show him, win alot with him and get a great learning experience. I am sure that they being new to minis were very happy with how their first "mini" show went. I am also sure they would disagree with the registry being useless, they are beginners and they had a great time. There is a place for even this sometimes hard to deal with registry. No doesn't mean it will be for everyone, but then again people who only breed ASPC horses usually have no use for AMHA either. With all of the negative in the industry, why can't we just find something good to say about anything anymore. World Class has its place, yes it is east coast based, but its gives so many people the chance to have fun with their minis without the so called politics of AMHA or AMHR shows.

So my advice is if you want to give WC a try then do so, there are alot of people who will tell you only great things about it. If its not for you, then don't bother, its just that simple.

Sarah, I have a stallion that I had to register with WCMHR, it took a while but I did get my papers from them, I called them a few times and finally got them. Took about 4 months.

If you go to page306 and 307 of the October/November 2007 Miniature Horse World there is a page and a half ad for 4 Generations Ranches(Gold Seal Miniature Horse Registry is mentioned.) Interesting... 4 G's Alfalfa Please might jar some memories.

I judged the WCMHR World Show this year and I can tell you there was some very high quality horses there and it was a big show and very well ran. I have some pretty good knowledge of AMHA & AMHR World & Nationals and there were horses at the WCMHR show that could have been very competitive at either.

Just to clarify, my issue isn't with the quality of horses who may have WCMHR papers. My point is to make sure people understand that those WCMHR do not add value to a horse and if the horse was grade before, to 99.9% of the miniature horse enthusiasts, it's still grade after getting WCMHR (or Gold Seal) papers. And, like I said, don't hold your breath waiting on service or papers you bought from that business.

Well I will say that the show idea always sounded wonderful to me of course it doesnt do much for me being as far to the other side of the country as it could be lol

but.. would love to have something like that here

That second statement isn't even in the same family tree. What my statement means is that no horse should be considered "worthless". They all have something they can give either to thier breed or to humankind. The quote you metioned basically says "I'll do what I want, when I want and to h**l with what results". Sorry- your incorrect in your statement. I also would never call any animal "garbage"- it's very insensitive.

Lisa, I don't think LIttleum understood what I said. Please see reply below. However I heartly agree with your statement:
