have been having a trainer out (couple times) and she really likes Buddy however she agrees he's just way too much for us old crippled people.

He works ok, but is full of himself as we can't physically get out to work him..he's 7yrs old, and we think he drives, haven't done that yet but was told he does when we bought him..

Carl's scoliosis is getting worse and you all know I'm crippled..So we are going to have to find a bombproof doggy little gelding or mare to replace him..we only have room to properly care for two and little Shortcake stays.

I need to tell you we're heartbroken, and if we were much younger, (we're headed to 70yrs old) he'd be here for life, but we're not so he needs a younger healthier person to keep him worked and busy.

He used to nip but strangely he's getting over that, doesn't kick, trailers, bathes, clips, farrier an vet wonderfully, , loads too..even doesn't mind feathers and bells on his head for costume..but he is a spirited boy! and I wouldn't have a 3yr old lead him or anything..if anyone wants to know more let me know PM or email..I know this isn't the saleboard but we JUST got in from the barn with the trainer and made this descision.Feel free to bump it where ever..

He's not registered either ..His name is Charmers Lil Buddy.Maxine and Carl 231 625 8576

Oh Maxine I am so sorry. It was sure hard for me to give up some of my kids this year because I'm so lame too. You have warm hugs from me. I really hope he can find just the right person who will love him!

Is Buddy a gelding or a stallion? If he is a stallion perhaps gelding him with solve some of the issues?

Oh, I am so sorry. But, you are doing the right thing.. Wishing you luck fidning him the perfect home,

Breanne

It's ok. These things happen. I know it's heartbreaking but it's for the best. You did everything right, plus brought in a trainer for an outside opinion which I applaud you for.

There's no blame and certainly no shame. You did everything and you tried very hard with Buddy.

When it gets to the point that all you do is worry "what is he going to pull on us today" and "will he be a good boy or will he be full of beans" and a whole lot of "be carefuls" mixed in, then it's no fun anymore and becomes sad. There has to be a change.

Buddy simply wasn't the right horse for you, but he will be the perfect horse for another loving person who is out there just waiting to find him.

And Max, don't worry! Your new horse is going to work out fine too. You now have much experience and know a lot more now than what you did, so finding your new horse is just a matter of time and patience.

Thanks everyone! He's a gelding..has not been tested to see if he's proud cut and of course the seller will not respond to us..the trainer is now trying to contact her to see what she can find out..

We feel SO darn guilty! We love this boy, he might get full of beans but at the same time when working on a gate etc, he comes up to Carl and falls asleep with his head on Carl's shoulder..he follows you around and stands right there when sawing etc, we have to move him for his own safety. He's such a darn character and can be a real joy..alas we know now it will have to be for another.

We may have found another gelding , plain little brown boy.Looks like our little SHortcake..but Carl drove him when we bought the used cart recently and he's a sweet boy.

Will tell you more if we end up with him. I know I will have a hard time looking Buddy in the face tomorow but hopefully some young person's big grin will make me feel better. Why do we get so attached!

Thanks again, Maxine and Carl

I'm so sorry Maxine - Buddy is such a beautiful horse, but safety comes first...if I had more room I'd take him off your hands for ya

, but I only have 2 stalls and don't want to overcrowd.

You are making the right decision so don't feel bad! (Hugs)
