Life has been crazy busy lately, work, on- call, the horses, family stuff, etc.
I just want to say that even though I haven't been posting , I have been reading late at night, and trying to keep up with my forum family. I have cried with you, celebrated with you and prayed for you, even though you haven't heard much from me. PLease know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
My nearly 3 year old boy that I bought from Anne Veglhan at Havencroft Farm, last year(Thanks again Anne!) has been sent out to learn to drive since Feb 11th. I have been able to go and get "lessons" along with Phantom being trained to drive, as I am really a newby in driving too.
Harnessing the horse seems to be the hardest part for me, as I am afraid that I won't do it correctly. Phantom has learned very quickly, and his trainer is very pleased.
Today, we went out on the road a couple of miles and then onto trails. It was scarey with traffic, but I was driving a seasoned gelding. Phantom did great for his trainer, traffic and all. Today he pulled a wooden meadowbrook cart instead of an easy entry, for the first time.
I had a real blast, I can't tell you how good it felt to be out in the woods with the horses and driving on the trail. It seems lately that I have just been mucking and cleaning, which is fine, but this was all FUN! I am excited to be doing something WITH the horse, instead of for the horses( I am NOT complaining though, I love everything I do for the horses). Its like riding kind of, and really fun!
I look forward to driving from now on. My trainer hopes to get a trail ride going for local minis in Southern New Jersey, that would be a blast!
Take care!
