If you are asking for advice here, mine would be to go straight to the boss and flat out tell him that this gal is a royal screw up and he needs to hire someone else immediately.

I believe it is customary to give a trainee a grace period to see if someone will work out. Her's is over.

If he doesn't listen, then leave her to her own devices and the give her enough rope to let her hang herself.

Let her make a mess of things and then sit back and say "I told you so"

What else do they expect you to do?

I ditto Marty.

Let your boss know what you think and what you've experienced and then let the gal hang herself.

I agree that it's time for her to go. Since she is from a temp agency, it's very easy to get rid of her. Sounds to me like she's just gonna screw the books up really bad.

I agree, this person is not suitable for the job. If you are not quite ready to say this you might try sitting her down and telling her the facts- that she will NOT get the job if she is NOT prepared to do things your way, that her getting the job depends solely on you, and see if this makes her buck her ideas up. If not, she will have to go back to the agency. Either way you need to tell your Boss the whole truth so he knows exactly what is going on.

I was in management for many years and those who have posted make alot of sense. Does she take notes when you are showing her something? If not, insist. Secondly, is it crucial that tasks are done in a certain order or can they be done in any order as long as they are done? Thirdly she does need to know that your hesitation in teaching her anything more is because you dont feel she has mastered the tasks already shown. If she is that sure that she does know what you have shown her then she has to prove that to you and to the boss before she goes on to something else. She may find the little things boring because she doesnt understand the importance of the little things. You need to make her understand that you are not asking her to do things the way you are only because it is the way you do them that there is a very logical reason for doing them this way. If it doesnt matter the order things are done then you need to let that part of this go. That would make this a power struggle which often occurs when one is training a replacement.

Lastly if she has a reasonable working knowledge of the tasks she may work out after you are gone she cant fill a niche until the niche exists. She really doesnt have to respect you but she does have to learn the tasks you are teaching. It would be nice if she also would respect you for your knowledge but she can do the job even if she never respects you. No disrespect intended I just have trained many many workers over the years.

Well...the way I see it is... that if you are not happy with her, then for sure your boss won't be happy when you leave.

Right now your Boss is use to the way things are done and by her being so Bossy and a know it all, sounds like he will have a big problem with her after you are gone.

I would say, Sorry Honey, but your just not working out and let her go. There are alot of people out there that can and will do the job right. Besides, the Temp service people will put her on another job.

Oh ya, don't feel bad by letting her go as its not your fault. You have to do whats best for your Boss and the Company. Then too, your boss sounds like he is depending on you to select the right person. Don't disappoint him.

Respect is a VERY important thing. It sounds as tho she doesn't respect authority. Yours and ultimately your bosses. I vote her off the island.

Im so glad this is the resolution you have been looking for and much fairer it is all up to her now wether she stays or goes. You will know that you did the right thing. And the responsiblity will be on your bosses shoulders where it should be if she doesnt work out. Get a good nights sleep.
