Welcome to our forums! I for one would love to hear more about your plans and see photos of your new horses. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, there are many here who can help with getting them ready for their visits.

Hello and welcome, I am fairly new here, too.

It's nice that you plan to use your minis for nursing home visits. I used to be a nurse and I know what you will be doing will be appreciated.

i was previously the DON there and soon to be admin so i am very excite to get those lil guys in there

Congrats on your promotion! And WELCOME!

I have taken minis to the local nursing homes in the past. I would bathe them that morning, and did not feed them any hay....so never had any accidents in the hallways. If you are going to be on vinyl flooring, it helps if you put duct tape on the hoofs so they don't slip. It is so rewarding!! There was one resident who clung to her cabbage patch doll like it was her lifeline. But she shocked the nursing staff when she saw us coming down the hall, THREW her doll on the floor and launched herself from her chair to wrap herself around the mare's neck. And that mare stood like a rock, knowing how fragile the resident was. It was very moving! And very rewarding. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum :) Hope you get all the answers you need! We don't do visits, but the only thing I can think of is getting them used to going inside buildings and doorways. Pause so their eyes can adjust. Wheel chairs, walkers, IV poles can be scary too.

Good luck!
