Well, he did sire this stallion I own, Hobby Knolls Black Eyed Legend. Regarding winning anything, nothing is listed on the AMHA Studbook.

Marty,

Silver Legend was actually born up here in Washington state - his sire is Maudes HiCee (31" black w/4 socks and a PERFECT miniature Morgan) and his dam is Maudes Melody ( 33" dapple grey w/flaxen m/t)-- he is straight Smith McCoy breeding. He was born at Terry & Thorny Davis' farm - Diamond D Miniature Horses and sold to Delmer Moody (either him or the fellow that owned Del Tera Ranch) I believe and then sold once again to Kenda - and then given the name Hemlock Brooks Silver Legend.

My very first mini was a 1/2 brother to him - Diamond D's Little Hombre and I still have a daughter of his in my herd - that would be Deja Vu (or Sami as we call her). Sami broke her pelvis as a yearling so was never shown, but her kids have done really well, and their kids are also going to be ring winners.

My second horse was a FULL sister to Silver Legend - Diamond D's Mariah - I purchased her when she was only 3 days old - she had to be weaned at about 5 weeks and I became her "mommy" and we were unseperable -

Hombre and Mariah and I went to lots of shows and won lots of blue ribbons and championships. Mariah was undefeated as a halter mare and her offspring continue to be also. Hombre unfortunately died of a twisted gut at only age 5, but Mariah is still going strong and has produced numerous AMHA & AMHR National Champions - Silver Song is one of Mariah's daughters and Silver is the dam of National Champions Mountain Meadows Bey Durango and also Mountain Meadows Jewel.

So at least as far as Mountain Meadows is concerned - we have a soft spot for this bloodline - it was, and continues to be a serious force in our breeding program.

Hope that helps, - maybe not a lot on Silver Legend himself, but something on the family!

I think he was most recently owned by Donna Julius in PA who is very active in the Keystone Miniature Horse club.He may still be alive. She is a very nice person and always willing to talk Minis.

Thank you very much. This is great information.

Silver Legend is my Holly's grandsire and I wanted to get more aquainted with everyone in her background.

You have all been very helpful. ((((( ))))

Hi Marty,

I am pretty sure that Hemlock Brooks Silver Legend 27" was a multi National top tenAMHA) He sired Hemlock Brooks Legends Legacy, also a multi national champion currently owned by the Houcks.

I have a lovely daughter sired by Silver Legend. Her name is TJM Obsessed With Silver( named because I was crazy in love with Silver legend.

Donna Julius from Sunny J Ranch owned Silver Legend until he died a couple years ago. Donna was kind enough to give me a braided piece of Silver Legend's mane and a color copy of his papers. I so loved that boy. I will email you Donna's email addy. along with a good picture of Silver Legend.

I owned a Hemlock Brooks Silver Legend son for many years and I have two of his grandkids in my herd now. One a stallion and one a mare. The mare can be bought. I believe Silver Legend passed away a few years ago.

Hi, Marty,

I believe I have a photo of Maude's Hi Cee in my Historical Miniature Horses photo files from one of my old AMHA Worlds or IMHR Journals. Pretty horse and if you like, you can email me at [email protected] and I'll attach it in an email to you.

Hi Marty,

I am pretty sure that Hemlock Brooks Silver Legend 27" was a multi National top tenAMHA)
According to the records in AMHA National Award Winning Horses by Polly Hyde, he was Top Ten once in 1989, he was sixth out of eight entries. For those of you interested in results from AMHA National Shows, it is an excellent investment. It has every Top Ten horse from the first National Show in 1979 through 2003.
