I'm fine up here on my hill. How about those of you in some of the more problematic areas?

Ditches are working well, nasty high winds right now, which we don't need. Knock on wood our hill has stayed put so far but there are slides farther down the road. Lossing even more trees.... my woodlands look like a bomb went off...heck.. the whole area looks like a bomb went off.

We had to go into town last night but was told many of the Rds in Kelso were closed due to flooding so we went to FM over in Scapposse instead. I have to go into town tomorrow...will see what the Columbia River is doing then.

Know someone in Orting that got flooded out.

Hope all are safe too!

We're well up in the foothills so there is no danger of flooding on our property, thank GOD. Yesterday we were isolated by flooding rivers, but they have receded now and we are able to get to town. Had to drive the normal 6 miles to school via a 30 mile detour and still we had to go through about 4 places where water was over the road. I'm glad to see that we are on the backside of it now. North of Seattle, it still is really a mess over in Stanwood/Silvana and also down by Leia in Snohomish. South of Seattle is truly a mess and the main interstate (I5) is closed covering a 20 mile stretch.

Please, other people check in and let us know you are OK. I am getting tired of weather of biblical proportions!

Like you, we're on a hill, so no flooding danger.

Our general area, including the the little town of Vernonia which was nearly washed away last year, barely dodged the bullet -- we hardly received any rain, while across the river in southwest Washington state was pummelled.

Shari, did it hit you?

I'm worried about Kim and the Crabby Chickens, Nancy (Equisize) and others in lower, more northerly areas.

We're doing okay, but I'm waiting impatiently for a client to approve the conference materials (Seminar is next Friday) so that I can go to the beach with my sister, sisters-in-law, neice, etc., for a "girls' weekend. No see, no can go...

We're doing ok here. Elevation gooood.

Have come up with some new "imbentions" as Nanno says,

Equine water wings and cart pontoons........

We got about 6" of rain. bla.......

I haven't gone out to see the state of things with the creek not to far from the side of the house(can't see it because of the trees but can sure hear it!), though there is no way it will flood here with a drop off like that! This weekend is looking nice, so will do the checks then.

Hope the others let us know they are ok soon!

Jayne's right, they're closing roads around here like crazy and my sweetie says downtown Snohomish is a real mess. I'm off the next three days so I'll sneak out and take some pictures if it's still this bad tomorrow.

Me too! I wrote an email to Maureen at Happ's as well, she's off exit 68 where the road closures of I-5 start and I know Happ's took a real beating last year when this happened.

Kody's ready with his snorkel, he says pontoons could double as snow skiis at need which would be good!

We are good. Didn't have work today. The wind was strong today and had some really soggy horses. We have a bunch of widow makes hanging over my barn from the snow and ice, so was hoping that they would fall in the daytime so we could see them.

People all around us have been evacuated. Lots of places that never flooded before. Scary stuff.

Kari said she is having mud slides in her area, (Willapa bay area) but they are okay and still have power. Liz( Nootka) said they are windy but no flooding at her place. All around her in Astoria though.

Alright, Nancy better check in!

Leia,

I emailed Maureen also. If you hear from her first, will you post on here. She probably has a million emails! Watching the news, it sounds like everything around Happ's is really bad. When I spoke to here two days ago, she said the creek was rising!!!

Things are fine down here in So. Oregon, sounds like just Southern Washington and Northern Oregon are the hardest hit.

I just received an email from Maureen at Happ's that says everything there is ok. The creek is actually going down, although normally 5-6 feet wide, it is now 150-200 feet wide!!! The south side of her barn is full of evacuated horses. They have cancelled events for the weekend and trying to dry things out.

The last of the snow melted up here today. I'm on a hill also, but I'm going to be busy this weekend cleaning up all of the tree damage. The old chainsaw will be making some racket up here.

The barn is partially flooded. I was going to have sand brought in last year but never got around to it. This year, I am going to have that done. I have had enough of that flooded barn!

At least now the girls can graze outside and won't be in there so much. I won't have so much poop to muck out all of the time.

The creek in our front yard spilled over into the pastures and onto the road. The only place NOT covered by water was the house, barn and shop. Those old farmers knew where to site a house in 1915. Our car is down the road two miles and thank goodness for good neighbors who will come get you in their 4 wheel drive truck or their boat when your 4wheel drive Subaru is just too short. School has been out since noon on Wednesday and as of yet we cannot get out of our road except to go overland on the logging roads (good way to check them out for next year's New Year's Drive). The Chehalis River is to crest here tomorrow, but the small creeks are receding. We are amazed at how quickly it comes and then how quickly it goes. The name of our road is Newman Creek Road. Today it is more of Newman Lake. I took the horses for a walk down the road today. Might as well use all that water for some training. They thought it was put there for them to play in. Both the colt and the show gelding pushed water with their nose while pawing and splashing. We've been in our new place for 4 months and so far have endured freezing cold, record flooding and rainfall twice, and record snow. Almost like a test to see if we really belong here. So far we're passing!!! But we are incredibly lucky, really blessed, to be able to watch our creek rise without the fear and emotional pain of friends who lose everything. Ours is a nuisance situation; theirs is life-altering.

We're here everyone, thanks for thinking of us.

I could write a book but I won't.

We are fine here, today, in Montesano. Yesterday was a bit sketchy.

We do have a run off creek, on our property, but it sits about 30 feet

below us in a gully. This normally well behaved quiet creek became

about 40 maybe 50 feet wide yesterday and moving quickly.

Our pasture closest to the house still has standing water but most all

waters have receded today.

We spent all day yesterday glued to the TV, as the King5TV helicopters

hovered over our place we lost in the flooding in 2006. We went under

worse last night. ~~ It was horrible to watch and brings back many scary

memories.... I've kind of tried to put all that to the back of my

mind since we moved down here but there was no denying it yesterday.

We just returned from there about an hour ago. Our direct road out

of Grays Harbor was closed and we had to take a long round a bout

route.....it still was closed tonight when we returned.

We've got lots of work to do up at the old place again.......as we are still

owners till Pierce County and FEMA decide to buy us out. Even then they

will only buy our house and the land it stands on - will not buy our business.

It's not usable land any longer but we still have to make the payments on

it and pay the TAXES - and obviously after last night they've done nothing

in the past two years to mitigate the flood threat.

I would post photos but looking at them makes my stomach sick to say

nothing of my heart.

So that's enough about us........glad to hear everyone else, in our maybe

not being so BEAUTIFUL Pacific NW, is OK.

Everything else is do able as long as everyone is OK.

Take care everyone, I have had you all in my thoughts hoping you were

faring well.......

We are up on a hill - so despite the monsoon and the tree carnage from the snow - are fine. No rivers or anything greater than our little creek close enough to cause a problem. But the barn floods due to the snow damage (ripped away the gutters) - and it is one big lake down the main aisle...

North to Duvall and Carnation is cut off - any word from Stacy? Friends in Fall City have been flooded out...

So first heavy snow that has not occurred in decades... now this monsoon and flooding.. what's next - locusts?
default_wacko.png

Hi everyone,

We are fine up here on the mountain - Duvall is isolated due to flooding, but so far it isn't too inconvenient. I talked to Amy and Patty earlier and they are doing OK as well and are still able to stay in their places. Spoke to Tiffany this morning and it was 50/50 on whether or not they had to evacuate, so hoping that it is OK at her place also.

Bring on the locusts . . . .

Sharon and I are having no problems here in Salem - the snow just melted away and the water was no problem. I feel fortunate and somewhat guilty
