: I AGREE - we are up to a whopping 16 degrees today. In Washington/Idaho we are indeed getting some extra winter weather. I need to finish up some fencing so this is brutal. But you are right, it does make cleanup easier!

Take Care and Stay Warm

We are having a NICE day here--sun is shining, very little wind, and the temperature is all the way up to 2F now (1:15 pm)--as long as you're dressed for it, it doesn't feel too bad out there.

Got my yard plowed out last night after Tuesday's snowstorm--that's about as good as it gets on Nov. 30th in southern Manitoba

Here in SW Wyoming, we were -5 two nights ago and -12 the night before last and only -4 last night :)

Yesterday stayed pretty cold but today is now into the low 20's. However the wind makes it feel horrible out there! No clue what the wind chill is!

Tuesday it got down to 17 degrees here in Snohomish WA with windchill to I think they said 3 degrees? Yipes!! For us anything below 20 is virtually unheard of. I really didn't think it felt that cold, but the thermometer on the garage wall said it was. Spyder is all blanketed up in his jammies and Kody is, of course, happy as a lark out there in the snow.

We started thawing last night though and today it was already at 32 degrees when I left for work at 7:30AM. Yay, no more hauling hot water and making beet pulp in the house! I can just take out one bucket of hot water to actually mix the stuff when it's time to feed instead of making four trips per feeding, three times a day. Good thing too, my back has about had it.

Bellingham got down to "minus something" that day we hit 17. :cold:

I'm curious if anyone gets the ice like we've had the last couple years? I don't know if it's because of the area we're in? First we get cold, and it snows. Then we get mild, the snow starts to melt, and we get ice either from snow melting then refreezing, or from sleet because we have mild weather. It's been so strange the last couple winters, and I've ended up wearing spikes on my boots just to get to the barn. I usually end up locking the animals in the catch pens up by the barns, and laying down straw so they can at least be outside.

It's nasty here in Oklahoma City! Sharrway was supposed to come in with two horses yesterday, but poor Wayne had to layover only a little ways out of OKC due to the ice. We're having a blizzard right now and it's about 19 F outside with a wind chill around 0. Brrrr..... too cold for Oklahoma!

After about 10 days of mild temperatures we are supposed to 'get it' tomorrow. I dread that.

Yesterday hubby went fishing in the gravel pit across the road from us and said there were frogs jumping in the water as he walked along the edge...and it was almost Dec!!!

Guess they (frogs) won`t be jumping this weekend...

Here's the report from Kansas! It is snowing like crazy and blowing! We are expecting around 10 inches. Thank God I work for a school district and school was cancelled today and probably will be tomorrow if it keeps this up! I cant see the barn and husband is at work in Overland Park! Hope he makes it home! Wish I could go out and see my Cowboy baby in his first snow! I will try to get my husband to take pix when he gets home. This really is one of the times being in a wheelchair sucks the most cause I can't get out in my scooter or chair without help! and to think that a couple hours ago I almost ventured out on my scooter. That probably wouldnt have been a good idea! Sheila

North East Texas

Yesterday at 7 pm was 76 today 36 and rain. Burrrrrrrrrr I should consider Florida

We built nice shelters in case of this kind of weather, from 32 is only one horse in LA Silver Charmer. He is neat and clean I could take him immediately to a show. No need to tell how the others look like.

Feel sorry for you folks and animals where it is below zero already. We are in the 60's today in Connecticut which is a little unusual for this time of the year. But we are soggy from lots of rain lately.

Checking in from Central Oregon..........

Night before last it was 6 degrees, last night it was 25 degrees. And today it's almost 40! We are having a heat wave! YAY!

Wow!! Reading about that bitter cold weather actually makes me (for a brief moment) glad I'm in Florida. I like winter weather (from Central NY) but not that bitter stuff. Yikes!!!

It was in the 80's today. I honestly got hot and thought about putting on shorts. I was getting bit by mosquitos (still) at feeding time.

It's so cold in IOWA.......You say,,,,how cold is it??? something jingled when I did chores. :new_shocked:

Actually the windchills are what made it feel colder....tonight we are supposed to stay above zero. :aktion033:

Weird here in New Mexico as well!!!

We had our first snow last night and today, got down to 17 F last night, up to 34 F today. :new_shocked:

Just plugged in water heaters yesterday, usually we have them plugged in at the end of October which is usually when our first freeze is, but we didn't need them until yesterday

It's midnight in Central MN and I just stepped out the door to check the temp - 2 above. I'm sure by morning we'll be well below zero. The wind has died down now though so at least we aren't dealing with the killer windchill we had last night!

Edited to add - it was over 50 degrees on Tuesday. I didn't plug the heated buckets in until this morning when it dropped below freezing in the barn. The tank heater outside has been in for a month because of an earlier cold snap but it wasn't running much until the last couple of days!

I wish it was as warm as most of you guys!!!! Like Relic and Kendra have said it's been aroung -30 and about -40 with wind chill. Thats celsius.

-40 is -40 - C or F. :bgrin It's the only temperature where the two agree.

From Northern Ontario. We had a snow strom yesterday afternoon and last night with temperature of -5C with strong winds and blowing snow. Looks like we got about 15cm of snow. Maureen left her car at a neihbours and walked the half mile into the farm. This morning it is -8C with some sun. Up until this point in time it seems like all it did is rain. This has to have been the lousious fall I have seen in a long time.

We apparently dodged the bad weather some how. It was really windy yesterday and warm. I think it was around 60's when I went to bed. It's been like that all week. Get up this morning and it's 38. Supposed to be 57 today. This isn't normal for our area so I will appreciate it while it's here. We are all very sick around here with the weather changing so much from warm to cold.

I really do feel for those of you who have such cold weather. One weatherman here predicted 20 to 30 inches of snow total for us this year. Not much snow the last couple of years. That is a lot if we get it. It figures that I'm pregnant and due in February and they are calling for a lot of snow this winter. Considering it's already December and we only have a few months to go. I wonder which month will be the worst........
