Hi everyone,

Today I learned there's a homeless teen in our area. I don't know him, and I've never met him. I'm concerned. I was told his parents are both in jail, and he's been living day by day for several months. Plus, he attends high school everyday and plays on the football team!

I'm thinking he must be trying to live a normal life, among his friends, and doing the best he can.

I was told he even showers at the high school and pretends to arrive early for practice, and when the janitors unlock the doors every morning...he showers. Plus, he's been hiding on campus/living there!

I don't know anything else on the matter, or if any of this is true. I can't get it off my mind. I have to believe there's help for someone in his position.

***UPDATE: Asked that neighbor about him on Sept.1st.... and learned he's been staying at her place. I feel better now knowing he's in safe place.

Hopefully someone will step up and help this young man.

Reminds me a bit of the movie Sandra Bullock did about the homeless teen. Don't remember the name of it but it was a good movie.

Can you or anyone you know take him?

Of course there is CPS, but they could really mess him up. Whoever takes him needs to do it legally, maybe the parents would sign paperwork.

Maybe a school counselor could help?

Apparently the neighbor who shared this with me says she offered to do his laundry on weekends and gave him $20 for lunch money. Then had him mow her lawn and move rocks out of her stalls as repayment. But says he bothers her, so she won't allow him to live at her home. I'm hoping she ends up taking him in. He's a friend of her son, so maybe he will grow on her and she'll open up and take him in???

Someone should be notified- what if something happened or he got sick, etc..... Other relatives perhaps?

Was it a reliable source that mentioned about this kid or someone watching too many movies?

I believe he's homeless, but have no idea if the details givin are factual.

This is probably why the school counselor should be notified. He may be put into the "system", but it has to be better than his being on the street.
