Hi everyone! I was going to post these later this week because of the recent happenings, but decided Marty wouldn't have it ;)

It was a long weekend. Left on Friday at 12:30 PM when we had planned on 10. We got there at 8:00 and I had to wash the horses in the dark

. I was thrilled to be out of that truck. I got them all settled in and we had some camper trouble, but thanks to a fellow-rver next door we got back on track.

In the morning I needed Chantilly's hooves trimmed and I want to thank Linda (Fred on this forum) for her hospitality and help

She let me borrow Sting (her B gelding) to show in showmanship as a B so If I cannot bring Chantilly to nationals I can fly down and show sting.

so it was then showmanship with Sting and he has never pivotted before

There was some tough competition but we received 2nd under both judges out of 3

Then I brought in Chantilly for A showmanship. Again, tough competition and Chantilly didn't pivot for me

We received 5th under both judges out of 7.

Then we had a break and I watched the stallion classes. We also went shopping at the little tack store and found a great deal on blankets. I officially decided that Chantilly's new color is pink

I got to meet Karla (Barnbum), Kennedy and her two little fillies. All of them were so sweet, and I could tell they were having fun!

Then it was Chantilly's halter class. I showed her in youth A mares. She stood perfectly for me! I had worked with her before the class on standing still (learned a new method) and it worked great. She stood the whole time and received a 5th out of 8 under judge 1 and a 3RD! under the second judge! She was right behind the Sawmill River horses on that 3rd

Jubilee had her halter class after that and she also stood for me (much better than the past shows). She is very gawky, however so she received a 6th under 1 judge and didn't place under the other out of 10.

Jumping was a disaster :new_shocked: I had warmed Chantilly up one way, then went the other way and she refused. So she broke out of her halter and thankfully someone saved her. I made her jump that way again and it worked. Then we had about 30 minutes of a wait and before class I warmed her up once more (mistake). She was too tired and too cranky so she refused the first jump 3 times. Dqed.

Then it was Liberty. All I wanted to do was catch Jubilee. I didn't care if she didn't place and that is what happened. She was perfect for being caught and we had fun!

Then it was country pleasure! I only entered the youth class as it was my first time driving at a rated show. She was very itchy and reared a bit before the class. But when we got in there it was great! She did everything I asked her. The judging was odd. I got a 3rd/3 under the first judge and then a 1st/3 under the other.

: I am very proud!

Obstacle was another embarrasment. I had practiced all day with her. I think she got cranky and tired. First we had to sidepass one way, pivot, then sidepass the other. She sidepassed the first pole well, then she suddenly twirled around right when we finished the first pole before I could pivot her. So I just walked her back to the second pole and she wouldn't budge. Okay, next obstacle. I am embarrased to say i was a bit flustered and a poor sport. She normally is very good at obstacle. Next we had to do a hula hoop keeping her front legs inside. She did that quicker than I wanted her too. THEN we had to do a backup Z. I have never seen it before but I practiced with her beforehand. The poles were so narrow and she backed up too far (she got really fiesty). To I just backed her up the rest of the way without doing the Z. I was doomed anyways, but I couldn't correct her. Then I had to ground tie her on a tarp. She is used to tarps! she went on with two hooves and then backed up and wouldn't have it. Next obstacle. Walking over a bridge. It was extremely narrow as well. She wouldn't do it. Then we trot over the cavalletis and she drags her feet and trips. Okay. Thank god that was over. I think she was having an off day. But I am going to be practicing those with her for the next show.

I did have a blast though! Saw some beautiful horses and got to experience my first large show!

These pictures are terrible, for some reason the camera was making it look like it had double vision.

Next show is an NbarH show and then Area 1!!!

Sounds good Jessica.

My main thought for you with Chantilly being cranky is teach her when your at home that she has to work when you want her to or she won't go back into her stall.

Jessica! Hi, again! :saludando: You did a grand job at the show! Of course, I couldn't watch much too closely (see my post) but you looked so pretty. You sure went into a lot of classes! Wow. I'm impressed.

It was very nice to meet you.

Karla
Thanks Karla!

It was great meeting you. I did go into a bunch of classes, but who would blame me because we drove 8 hours to get there

:. I like having versatile horses.

Hope to see you at the next show, even if it is in the bleachers!

Hope to meet everyone at Area One! :aktion033: :aktion033:
