Anyone ever take in a house room mate? How did it work? I'm thinking of maybe giving it a try- I sure could use the extra $$. They would have their own bedroom and separate bath, and use of the kitchen and laundry room. Pay rent and half electric bill (which runs anywhere between $40 to $240) No water, gas or sewage bill.

It's a mobile home, but I own it, although I live on a private horse farm. No trouble with parking. Very peaceful and quiet out here. Way out here...

Good? Bad? Anyone looking for a roomy?

It can be a great thing and you can have a nice roomate and make a friend for life.. or it can be the exact opposite. Just remember once they move in it is not easy at all legally to get them out.

I would do it in a heartbeat if I really knew the person very well. If I were here alone, I'd actually have to because I can't stand living alone and I would need to share expenses. But the problem really lies exactly like Lisa said, its really hard to get them out if things run amuck and that is the part that would scare the heck outta me.

If I lived in Texas I'd take you up on that! Yay for horsie roommates.

I did it for quite a while and it really helps out with the bills! We had separate entrances, which really helped out - we hardly ever saw each other. It's definitely worth trying!

Remember to spell out ALL of the rules and expations in the contract. It maks it easier to evect if you have to. Things like "NO DRUGS", weather or not you allow smoking in the house from them or their guests, What if they break something, can they have overnight guests, What if they want someone to move into their room. There is a ton of things. You should make a list and don't just jump into it.

while rules are great remember also once someone resides in your house you can not just ask them to leave cause a rule was broke you would have to go thru the legal ways of ending a lease. Of course if you are on a 30 day it makes it a bit easier then a long term lease

What I ment was put it in the rental agreement. Also Check your local laws to see if you can shorten an evection time in the case of violance or broken state or federal laws. If they sign it they agree to it.

Wanna move? I'm close to Nationals, SUPER close to Worlds, pretty good weather, pets welcome, horses welcome, LOTS of shows, both AMHA and AMHR/ASPC....

You guys also have quite a few Pleasure Driving Shows and CDE's/HDT's but I'm not sure you could pay me enough to deal with the heat, clay mud, snakes, fire ants, etc.

Maybe I'll come visit one of these days and see for myself!

We don't have mud here, as it's all sand. Fire ant s***... Only saw three snakes in five years....Now the heat, well that's something else. I clipped my guy yesterday, he had grown his winter jammies already! I keep telling him he doesn't live in Canada anymore!!

But yeah, we have ALL KINDS of shows. You could go almost every weekend in the spring and summer, and at least once or twice a month in fall and winter!!

I'm tempted to take you up on it but I am not too sure my husband and son would be as happy about it. LOL

Do you have a shed or something I could keep them in?
