I haven't been to a show where I needed a stall before and I was wondering if one or two bags is needed per stall? I"m attending the NEWMHC Shawano show the end of this month and I don't want to get too many bags or too little lol I was going to get 2 bags per stall but...anyone know if 1 is enough or too little?

Wish we still had bags we need to haul shavings from outside with a wheel barrow and put them in the stalls.

After we park we find our stalls and sweep out and start hauling shavings then unload 3 or 4 horses. But l'd say 2 bags as most floors at shows are cement. l'm just glad we don't have to take the shavings out at the end of the shows.

This is one of those depends answers.

I never liked less then two. It depends on the size of the stall and the footing in the stall. The more shavings the cleaner the horse will stay. Even if you are right there and scoop out the poop fast, even if they are blanketed they will manage to lay in poop if they have any white on them. If the flooring is dirt you want a heavy bedding to keep them out of it. If the floor is cement you want a heavy bedding to give them good cushion. If you travel a long way to the show you want them to have a nice soft bed to relax in.

I would never go with one bag. Two or more.

: I usually keep it 2 bags per stall..

The shows we go to have 10X10 stalls with cement floors. I don't like my horses standing on cement, so we put down stall mats and atleast 3 bags of shavings per stall. Mini's usually get 3 bags(sometimes I can get away with 2 1/2 depending on how full the bags are) and the Saddlebred gets 3-4 bags. At horseshows they are stuck in the stalls all the time except when they show, and I don't want them to get stocked up or sore from standing on cement....so, I'd rather have too much bedding and a good cushion then to save a few bucks and have horses who are stocked up and sore after 2 or 3 days of standing.

Always 3 bags for us, as said before, they have to stand in those stalls for the better part of 4 days and they need to be as comfortable as possible.

I agree........Go with at least 2 bags. You'll probably be sorry if you don't.

My horses will only be there for one day, not even overnight we're going home that night (live right nearby lol) so I think 2 bags would do it?? Thanks everyone!
