Have you ever named one of your fur-kids after a book character? If so, I'd love to hear them.

Nearly all of my pets are named after movie characters, but thats mostly because they were adopted before I really became book-obsessed.

Nope none for me. But My first dog I did name after a Hot Dog!!! His name was Koney, yep you can see what direction my mind goes!! LOL!!

The only time I named a pet after a fictional character, it turned out bad

... I haven't tried it since. We named a baby goat we got "Roland" after one of my favorite fictional characters (Stephen King's Gunslinger), but he had kidney stones as just a little baby. We had the goat vet out (yeah, we were able to find one) and she worked on him 2x w/in a couple of days before we had to put him to sleep. And he was so pretty. He was white and he had orange and black spots, like a calico cat kind of. He was actually MY pick of the three "baby" dwarf goats we got about 7 years ago. Still remember him nightly in my prayers!

My driving horse is named Dapper Dan. He already was named when I got him and I don't think he was named after the hair pomade, but rather after the famous racing horse!

I thought about calling him something else when I got him as a 5 year old unhandled stallion. My bil thought I should name him Ivan the Terrible. But Dapper Dan flows off the tongue now and I can't imagine him named anything else.

We had an orange cat one time named Lucy, for Lucille Ball.

Yes, I do! We had a whole litter of kittens we bottle fed with names from Harry Potter, we kept and still have Luna one of our barn cats. Teo my dog (Mateo, but I call him Teo) from one of my favorite books Love Walked In.

We have several chickens with TV shows, songs or movies or Irish themed names from our trip to Ireland. My horses born here tend to get color related names because of Crayonbox, and I try to pick a barn name related to their registered name. We have had goats, cats and "things" other times in the past with character names as well, but our theme for goat names right now is trees.

I do keep a list of characters names that I like, so there is always a good chance the next critter will get one.

I have an...

Andre - dog named after Andre the Giant (The Princess Bride).

Diesel - dog named after Vin Diesel (The Fast and the Furious).

Teddy Ruxpin - dog named after the talking teddy bear from the 80s.

Thackary Binx - cat named after the talking black cat in Hocus Pocus.

Taz - cat named after the cartoon tasmanian devil.

Draco - green iguana named after the dragon in Dragon Heart (sadly not after Harry Potter)

Gideon - Mini horse named after the angel in One Magic Christmas.

Dawson, Joey, Pacey, and Jen - Chickens named after characters in Dawson's Creek.

I used to also have a rat named Nemo (from Finding Nemo), a dwarf bunny named Willow (from the movie), and a cat named Meeko (from Pocahontes).

I am also saving a list of book-character names for future pets.

Your first 2 are my favorite people in both of those movies! (Princess Bride is my all time favorite next to Robin Hood men in Tights!! LOL!)

I remember going to see Andre The Giant wrestle once! He was soo cool! And Vin Diesel...... I could watch the Chronicles of Riddick over and over!

My first pony was named Beauty; but I gave her the official name of Phantom Beauty-I loved Misty of Chincoteague (and her dam) and Black Beauty (though my pony was a white and sorrel pinto).

One of my Shelties, a blue merle, I registered as Harlequin Hallabaloo after a horse story by that by that name that I liked a lot. His litter brother's call name was Stormy (again-as in Stormy, Misty's Foal).

I had one guinea pig named Cupcake (yum-sweets!).

I named my donkeys after the Twilight series. I have Esme, Bella and Jacob. Gee, forgot to add my new piggie is named Wilbur after the famous Wilbur of Charlotte's Web!

My little do-funny chihuahua is registered as Tiny Tim. hehehe - I didn't name him though, and call him Timmy.

Can't think of any others ... we've named a LOT of horses after (non-fictional!) hockey players though! ;-)

Only one. Kitten I saved in Dec 2011. She has a grumpy look (though not as grumpy as Tardar Sauce on FB)

Her name is Mrs Norris

OMG Tarder Sauce is a doll! Tell me that cat would not make your day everyday!

We named our new foal Willow, even though she is a filly. That is one of my hubby's favorite fantasy-type movies. She will toddle up to me and bump right into my legs and I think to myself, "out of the way, Peck!"

Here she comes....
