How much does your equine vet charge for office call???

I am seeig vet calls in the ares of 85.00. I am in shock

That is a lot of money. I know fule charge is high but come on!!!!! What does your vet charge????

I think it's $45 for a scheduled call and maybe $80 now for an emergency. I've had them out a few times this year, adding it all up, around $4,500, but they did good work, and lots of it. LOVE my vets

The work they did was routine spring stuff, teeth floating, gelding, well foal check, and some plasma transfusions and naxcel for a filly that had a bad start but is doing great now. They were out 5x for the filly alone

My vet goes by our house on his way to the clinic so he comes at 7:30 no charge

Usually if we have an emergency we run them to the clinic which is about 2 miles away so never have had a farm call charge.

My vet only lives 1/2 mile down the road from me so he goes by my house 2 times a day (on his way in and on his way home) and the clinic is only 5 miles away from us... But if I call him and he comes on his way home or to work then my farm call is $10... If he has to come out in the middle of the day it is $25 and if he has to come out in the middle of the night or after hours it is $50 charge.

My vets office is less than 10 miles away from me. He only charges me a $35 farm call and $70 if it is after hours. Of course, he is such a great guy that he occasionally 'forgets' to charge me for the farm calls! I just love my vet. He has been so wonderful with my horses and with my puppy that I wouldn't trade vets for the world!

Our vet is 3 miles door to door - last year they charged $45 for each call

and this year it is $47.50.

Our friends that live in the area, although further from their office get charged

!!!!! $125 !!!!!

They are very good vets with a repro specialist and the equipment to do

mini teeth - the vet I use is quite experienced with minis.

Feel fortunate to have them close.

Usually $70.00 for a regular farm call is the going rate around us and my vet lives only 2 miles from my farm and he is handy compared to the other 3-4 equine specialists, but he gives me a break on other services that perhaps need done and when I have the horses teeth floated, he gives me a better price also since I have my own floats that I purchased from Lisa at Ozark.

Our one and only large animal clinic has 2 vets. They rarely (for one of them change this to NEVER) agree to do farm visits. If the one who will go out does a visit it is $200 just for the vet to step on your farm (at least thats the cost from 3 years ago when a friend had to get a farm visit, I go to them and haven't had a call out charge) They are an hour away from me and even in an emergency it is faster to load and haul to them where they have the equipment for special problems, than it is to wait for them to get to me. It is plenty expensive enough to get the work done without tacking on a fee for a farm visit.

If it is for one of the CMHR horses it's $20.00 for them to come out. Otherwise, I pay $45.00 for a farm call. These vets are very nice to work with and are always on call to us.

My vet lives on the next street - maybe 2 miles away - and charges $48 for a farm call and I think $75 for an emergency call. But he has also been known to just stop in and check on things, or come over in an emergency (like when our foal didn't get out of the sac) and not charge a thing. I'm not complaining.

Its 75 for a regular call. I don't remember the emergency but its around 100. Maybe a little more.

We had our vet out last week to vaccinate a mare who had just delivered a few days before. (We never vaccinate our preggos until after foaling!)

Our usual stable call has been $40................last week it went up to $45! Plus any additional charges for examinations or work. But we're really pleased to have a vet on emergency call........he's even come at 4 a.m. on an emergency.

Vets have fuel and maintenance cost of their vehicles, too!

Our vet charges $23 for a normal farm call, $28 if it's an appointment made for same day after 10a, and I think it's $50 or $60 for an emergency farm call. Our vet also charges $1 per minute for exams - including well foal and health cert exams.

My vet is An Hour away and Charges 125.00 a farm call and after Hours is an additional 175.00 for emergency .If i take them there during the day it's 25.00. I do as much as I can on my own at home. I was a vet tech for two years so I have a little knowledge and it dose help.

we don't have a big choice on equine vets I think there are maybe two in our area and the other one is closer but I wouldn't even take my dog to them.

Mine lives about 45 minutes away and charges $65.00 for a regular farm call, not sure on an emergency visit and hope I don't have to find out any time soon!

Keep in mind, even if the vet is geographically close, to me all the prices I've heard are pretty cheap to get a professional to come and put time in at your farm. I'm not nearly as "cheap" when it comes to rearranging my work schedule
