I have not posted in a while. We finally moved out of my aunt's house into our won. It has been great and we have lived here for a month now. I wll post about that later. It has been great not living under her rule though. :488:
Anyway,
Here is the story!!
I took a wrong turn on my way home the other day so Loren and I stopped by a nursery to look at plants. While we were there Loren and I heard a beeping noise that was clearly a baby chick on some kind in distress. Loren wandered out into the back of the place looking for the noise. I kept calling him back because it is not our place and that was not part of the nursery. The owner then showed up and asked us what we were doing back there. Loren piped up "We are looking for the chick." I explained that we were looking for the chick that sounded like it was in trouble. She explained that the chick was the only one that hatched out and was getting beat up by all the other chickens. She then asked if we wanted it and Loren said "Yes." So we bought some flowers and brought the little white chick home with us.
After 2 days of listening to the constant beeping of the lonely chick if it was not near or on Loren, I thought we needed some other chick to keep it company. I found an ad for some Peachicks and called about them. There were 4 of them and so I said I would buy them. The lady who owned them was an hour away, but I figured it would be worth it. My husband just rolled his eyes at me because the "free" chick was getting costly.
We arrive at the place to pick up the peachicks and I notice she has a bunch of buggies. I asked her about them and she said she drives goats with them. I asked if any were for sail and might fit a mini and she said no, but she had something that might work. She opened up her stock trailer that there sat a WAGON!! She told me that it was for a mini originally but now was for her team of goats. I asked if it might be for sale. It is a $800 to $1,000 wagon at least and I didn't expect her to even offer it to me. I asked her if it was for sale and she hummed and hawed about it for a minute. I figured that would be a “No” when she said “How does $300 sound?”
I said “Great! When can I pick it up?” David just shook his head, again. So, the "free chick has cost $360 ($60 for the peas) so far. It is in need of some work, but not too bad at all. We are going to strip it and put a cushion seat on it. Replace some of the wood and do some welding on it too. It also needs a break put on it. I don't know exactly how to do all this, but we will figure it out. Soon I will be back in the “Driver’s Seat”!!!
I guess I need to break the news to Rocky & Slick!!
I forgot to add that Snowflake, the chicken, does not want to have anything to do with the peas and beeps constantly still wanting to be with his/her boy.
And the $360 chick!!
And the peachicks. They are not all that friendly, but we like them anyway.
