For the pst month or so, I just can't sleep. I don't know why. I just end up staying up almost all night (( until 3-4 in the morning)) and then I would wake up at 6 for school.

This past week, I have gotten about 29 hours of sleep total.

I just dont know how to sleep anymore! I go to bed, I am comfy, I am just not tired. I don't have caffiene, no large meals. I just can't sleep. Anyone else?

Sometimes I lay awake worrying and thinking too much. I've discovered if I pick out a wonderful thing that I would love to see happen in my life and play it out like I'd like it to happen, I eventually drift off to sleep.

I've done this for many years now, and believe it or not, very often some form of my "wonderful thing" actually comes true.

when i can't fall asleep, i start to take longer breaths. my grade 6 teacher told me this years ago. i guess deep breathing is what most people do when they sleep so it makes you sleep. i don't know if thats the case but it sure works.

Look up "REIKI" on the internet, then pray as you lay ready to sleep. I guarantee you'll sleep and well.

Your mind is probubly wandering. Try taking deep breaths and really consintrating on your breath, it almost always works. You can also try reading before bed, it usually makes you feel tired. I've heard that milk before bed can help you too.

Hmm.. turning on soft music helps me sleep. Either leave it on all night, or set it to turn off itself!

When i used to have trouble sleeping i would write novels in my head. getting the wording "just right" was very tiring and put me to sleep quickly! LOL

Deep breathing and relaxing helps too. envision a scene you really like---say, the shore, and watch, listen, and smell the waves as you breathe in deeply and exhale...it really does work! but you have to "be" there.....

now, for me, its the night meds that drop me into a deep sleep.....LOL

I know when I'm "not tired" at night, I haven't worked hard enough or gotten enough fresh air. Nothing like good, hard, physical outdoor work to help you sleep.

This is kiddoroxs22.

I turn on my radio and it will stay on for an hour. That alwasy helps.

This is my trick for getting to sleep:

Everytime I have a thought...it doesn't matter what kind of thought I imagine that thought being put inside a big treasure chest and locking it. I continue doing this to every thought I have and it doesn't take long at all for me to fall asleep.

I have to remember to imagine the key being put beside the chest though....before I used to imagine "throwing away the key" but then I would forget what I was thinking the night before....

Anyway, I also found a cup of milk with some honey in it and warming it up in the microwave has done wonders for my ability to fall alseep. Having a hot bath and relaxing just before going to sleep helps me out as well. Don't have a shower before you go to bed though, that always wakes me up more.

I went through a insomnia stage in my grade 12 year of high school. I think it was from stress of graduation and that sort of thing. During that year I was able to go two or even three days without sleeping...which is really really bad for you. But I didn't even feel tired! Doing relaxation exercises and a lot of deep breathing and remembering to actually have fun and loosen up very once in awhile really helped.

After learning not to worry so much I got out of the insomnia stage and now I have the opposite problem! I can't wake up! I have been known to go to bed a 9:00 PM and not wake up until 4 PM the next day! I only do this if I forget to set the alarm

I can't do this anymore though because I have two horses at home I need to feed now...

Wow, that was much more long winded than I think it needed to be.
