The last New England Pinto Show of the season was held this past weekend and a total of 16 minis showed up, some of whom were registered right at the show. Show entries may be declining elsewhere, but they seem to be increasing rapidly here. New England Pinto offers 6 minis classes, with A's & B's and all ages and sexes combined: halter, color, hunter, jumper, trail (halter obstacle), and driving. They also award division high points at each show and year end awards in each class. Photos were just posted and you can see them at New England Pinto Show and select the "mini classes". Jump around the website to see all the mini classes. Ellen of Photography to Remember got some awesome pictures!! She got some especially nice photos of our black and white gelding jumping. (He is the one with the consistent form).
We had 3 of the 16 minis entered and did well. Our 2 year old filly won first (and Grand Champion) in halter (I'm wearing teal) and got to go in the Champion of Champions halter class. Our yearling colt placed in the Amateur halter class competing agains 11 "big" pintos. But the trail class was the frosting on the cake. Chelsea Ranstead showed our 4 year old very spooky gelding and I took the filly and the yearling colt in that class (Pinto has no lower age limit for trail). All 16 minis were in this class, so it took forever. But in the end, our three placed 1st (the filly), 2nd (the gelding), and 3rd (yearling colt)!!
If you are looking for a fun place to show your pinto minis, and especially if you like performance classes - think about these shows for next season. Check the Club out at New England Pinto website. Note my avatar photo is also on their website!
