They are so cute...I want the white one with the black and brown spots!

What breed are they? Mama looks like a short haired dachsund. I've never seen white ones.

They are pure bred Mini Dachshunds. The two spotted ones are called Piebalds. They are not very common. I did that breeding in hopes of getting pies. The parents Hunter and Jazz are solids each with a pie parent. Many judges dont like pies, there has been a movement afoot to disqualify pies but it didnt pass the vote. They are AKC recognized as a pattern and the only disqualification is knuckling over in the knees, not excessive white. Dachshund pureists want them all to be red or black and tan when really there are pies, dapples, double dapples ( I dont agree with them because there are health issues with the DD) brindle, and solids. The male pie is a light red and the female a dark sable like Hunter.

Glad to hear they are doing great and momma is back to being herself

Be sure to post pics as they grow up, won't be long until they're running around getting into everything! lol

I knew there were some trying to get the pies "outlawed" so to say, but never head whether it passed or not.. Glad it didn't,

about like someone trying to disqualify pinto or appaloosa miniature horses lol would be pretty boring if the minis could only be bay or black solid lolol

I LOVE the dapples, I knew of the DD problems, so made sure that I didn't get two dapples to cross, went with a black/tan female and black/tan silver dapple male, had 5 pups first litter and 3 were dapple

I REALLY like the chocolates

and I've come across a couple blue and solid black pups that I'd love to have

I'm not a big fan of the wirehair and brindles though, but just me

Lucky C, I have lots of chocolate in my pedigrees, in fact Chance the long haired Black and tan has a chocolate dad who is smooth, his mother is also smooth but there was a recessive long on both sides. The Grandgable lines out of Canada do a lot of coat mixing. Also my long haired girls Nancy and Fancy who are littermates have chocolate grandparents.

Blue is not shown much, Alopecia (hair loss or super thin coat) is linked to that color so show breeders dont use it and we neuter any blue puppies we get. It is a double dilute and isabella, the bluish beige is also not a color we use. It isnt even a color choice on the litter applications.
