Just got in from checking fences.. lots to check around here, over 2000 acres of cattle pasture.

In one pasture that has 40 heifers & 1 bull. I also found 2 big horses! Not mine.... they have halters on and there are feed tubs on the fence??? ODD VERY ODD.. we have owned this pasture for 15 years it's off the main gravel road and very hilly. Wonder how long they have been there? My husbund said the feeders have been there for a few weeks. And come to think of it he said he saw them hanging on that fence and asked if they were mine.I said no and just forgot about it. The horses must of been below the hills that day.

I called everyone I know who has horses they not thiers. I lived here 30 years and belong to the local saddle club know most everyone. No one seems to know who they belong to!

Very nice riding horses.. they come right up to me.

So I put a call in to the local law enforcement to see if they can find out who put them there and why.

I think I'm going nuts here.Only thing that make any sence some either stole them and put them there to hide or were looking for what looked like free pasture.

Either way it is very wrong. Just have to find this out...

Very very strange!!!

My husbund said to go down and haul them here & see who comes

looking...

Wow, that is a strange one. I've never heard of anyone doing that, but if you're pasture is out of the way maybe they're trying to hide them out for a while or something?? Keep us posted whenever you find anything out.

My first thought echos your husband. Someone is hiding 2 nice horses. Should you find them (your land now) and bring them home, it would be VERY interesting to see if anyone looks for them. Just be careful.

Do you have locks on your gates? I would promptly put chains and locks on all my gates, if animals can come in, they can also go out. I agree, very odd and disturbing.

That is od! I would say stolen! Or something like that!

I think your husband is right bring them to your house that way someone might come looking for them!!

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw some years ago. An old woman was waking her rancher husband up during the night and told him someone was out at the barn. He asked if they were stealing the cattle and she replied, "No. Worse than that. They are unloading some."

Seriously, I would report it to the sheriff so that you don't get blamed for stealing them and then move them.

Not to be cocky here - but I would say that this is defenatly suspicious - nothing odd about it. Reminds me of some 35 years ago - I was around eight or so. A man came in the MIDDLE of the night and pounded on our door. ( At that time, where we lived was in the country - we had a hobby farm. ) He had rode from Lake Geneva ( so he said ) which was at least a two hour horse back ride. He asked if he could leave the horse here and pick it up the next day. He never did come back for the horse - we gained a huge draft type horse - tack and all - and had "Fagen" for years. Makes me wonder - was dad pulling a fast one - or - was this guy who left the horse? Or both? I have asked my dad about this on numerous occasions - memory fails him - or so he say's.

Now that you have called the police I would pull them from the pasture and watch and see(with camera in hand) who comes looking for these horses!

I agree. Seems very suspicious.

A few years back we also "grew" an extra horse. A nice, but very wild stallion. Come to find out he had escaped while loading a whole load of horses from the neighbors farm. It took us 2 weeks to work him closer to the buildings and then get him into a trailer for the owner to come and get him. He had not even realized this horse was missing until we called him.

But with the feeders there this can't be the case with your "new additions". I agree with the others, bring them into your place. It would really be fun to hide a hunting Trail camera near the feeders and see who shows up to feed them!!!

This was my thought too. Sooner or later they will be found out. Do you think they are driving back to this pasture or walking them to it? I will be watching this thread to see how it turns out.

Suspicious indeed. Probably they thought no one would notice 2 horses in a pasture full of cows.

Keep us posted please!

I'm holding my breath here... what did you decide to do, and what have you found out???

Wow, very interesting! I would bring them up to your main property though, for their sake, and put out a camera to see who comes looking for them! Please keep us updated, I can't wait to hear what happens!

By the way, can we have some descriptions of these horses? Just curious, trying to picture them right now!

Have you checked Netposse.com to see if they match any stolen horses? What a strange situation!

Have you found anything out yet?

Netposse sounds like a good place to look. I'd even check the surrounding states.

This is just a thought but could whoever this was be someone you know? If this is a secluded pasture the person or persons would have had to have known in advance the pasture is remote and how to get into it and out.
