Except for the feed dish part, it sounds a lot like what happened here last week. We have a 7 year old QH mare and just added to the barn a 4 year old QH mare from another boarder. The two youngsters decided the grass was greener on the other side of the woods.

We found them and the people they visited were very nice. The woman used to have horses and has always wanted to have some again.

When she drove into her driveway after work she had to rub her eyes. She said she didn't want to say anything to her husband because she was afraid he'd think she was crazy. She was staring at two beautiful horses munching down on her thick, rich grass.

Thank goodness the naughty girls didn't decide to head for the highway!! Sarah made some makeshift halters out of 2 pieces of rope (didn't know she could do that!!!) and my two daughters walked them home.

Oh, and these people don't even mind my donkeys hee-haws!! Nice neighbors!

Update on the "new horses"....

still have not found out who they belong to. Have checked around some more and there are new people from out of state who just moved in a few miles away. They were not home when I drove over to check, but left a note on thier door with a photo of the horses asking if they belong to them.

My 12 year old said they have 2 horses, a pinto and grey, she saw them when she was riding this spring.

My husbund said maybe they asked Ned who owns the next pasture if they can put them in his pasture and the people just put them in ours by mistake..

Seems most likely... but Neds drinks so Ron said he might not remember if they asked him in the bar.

We have put the horses in a pen here and placed a note in one of the feeder asking who ever put them there to come to us.

So we'll have to wait..

I agree with your husband. Also, padlock any gates and check daily for cut fences!

Years ago, when cattle were cheap, we got up one morning to find 2 calves in our round pen. My husband said that back then, it cost more to raise a bottle calf than they were worth. Nowadays, that would NEVER happen!

cannot wait to hear how this ends..........we have a pygmy goat that arrived the same way........it's been 3 months now I think and no one has claimed him

Ok heres the scoop on the 2 horses in the pasture.

Turns out they belong to Neds sisters son Jason. Here he asked if her if he could put them there for a few months until he finds a new place. She forgot to call tell Ned that she told Jason that Ned would not mind.

He had not been out there for years and was thinking it was the right gate ect. HA I'm sure Ned would not of minded , but because she forgot to tell her him, it sure made for an interisting week around here.

Lots of people in this little 1 horse town talking about them

Well golly gee...was hoping for a more exciting ending

That sure is a strange one. Be sure and let us know the outcome.
