I'm in tears. I went out this morning and noticed pepper was skinny again. She was loose in the barn since I hate them foaling in a stall. I looked and found the filly still in the sack. It was a weird marking filly. You could tell she was going to go grey. This was the foal I was dying for.

I went and buried her, and threw away my breeders alert and tore down my cameras. I'm sick to my stomach. That was the second time the darn thing didn't call mine or my grandmother phones. I tested last night and it was fine. I'm going to call the people I got them from, because this is the third time this has happened and I'm sick of it. I took it off of Pepper this morning and tested it and it didn't work..

I took care of Pepper, gave her the shots and check her over, I'm going to get her fit and show her and hopefully get enough points to go to nationals this year. I'm going to buy all new stuff and maybe I'll breed her again in the next couple of years but I doubt anytime soon.

Im so sorry to hear of your loss, we wait so long for these foals and then to lose any is heartbreaking. I hope you enjoy showing and have better luck when you decide to breed again.

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss! A similar thing happened to us this spring, but our mare was 6 weeks early and we didn't see any signs of iminent foaling. What a sad, sad thing to have happen - whether you're a big time breeder or a small farm. It really affects us emotionally for such a long time. I hope that your mare is doing okay and that both of you experience healing.

What a shame, so sorry for your lose. If it is any comfort at least you still have your lovly beloved mare, so many are lost.

Sorry for your loss.

I didn't have very good luck with our breeder alert either. Such a waste especially when you were trying to do everything right.

So sad....

I am sorry for you and your mare's loss. This is the hardest part of breeding. Please don't give up.

Showing this summer will surely help heal your wounds.

I am so sorry for your loss. You said your breeder alert did not work. You are not the first person that I have heard this happen to. Are your cameras not working either? We use cameras and a foalert which has never let me down. I am glad your mare is ok.

I am so sorry for your loss, I can tell you are just devistated. Hugs to you.

I have never used an alert that calls. I have the kind that sets off the loud alarm on a pager and it has never failed me. So sorry again for your heartbreak!

That has been my experience as well - backed up by the camera. We have a Breeder's Alert and I use the pager.

So sorry for your loss...

I am so sorry for you and your mares loss, I know just how you feel. Life just sucks sometimes! I had marestare and I was there with the vet on his way and I still lost my very much wanted foal. Only god knows why these things happen. At least we still have our mares and I am grateful as I would never forgive myself if I lost her.

Sending hugs to help heal your heart.

Never had breeder alert work correctly. Foal Alert is nice, but too late to do anything if you have a dystocia. FoalWatch is highly, highly, highly recommended, combined with cameras.

Very sorry for your loss

Very glad your mare is okay.

Thanks everyone. I sleep very hard and alarm clocks don't wake me up, so waking up to look at the tv screen is hard, the fiancee was watching for me and he would have woke me up if he saw anything, but right where she foaled it was a corner and I looked this morning and I guess the foal laying at the perfect spot not to tell if it was a foal laying down there. She was in a 20x30 area with straw. He said he saw her once over in that area around 2ish but he never saw her back over there. He would have heard my phone ring, his rings, and my grandmother had the other phone line.

Just sucks, I really really wanted this baby. As soon as I saw it I started crying.

The fiancee told me not sell my colt since the lady backed out on(she paid the deposit), told me to enjoy him, and he's starting to enjoy this. He picked out the camera of the trash, then he said we'll get a new alert system, but I'm not getting a breeder alert.

I had a lady on facebook message me saying this is why you shouldn't breed because I don't have the proper set up, which I do, and this was no ones fault. I have a alert system, and cameras, more then a lot of the backyard idiots. I just wish some people would keep their stupid mouths shut. All my mares are taken care of and their are a couple I don't love, but this little mare was my first "quality" mini and the one I bonded with. I'm excited about showing her, and getting told I need to keep my only ringo foal this year.

As long as I have my mare I'll be alright.

I am so SO sorry. I would be heartbroken too. It is so unfair...

You did everything right..

I don't know how the breeder alert works. Is it on the halter... and goes off when/if she layes

out flat? just curious.... because I have a mare that foaled standing up... and the pager she had on..

never would have gone off! Sneaky little things.

I hope you have a great show year
