That's right! It's official......As of 21 minutes ago, I have not smoked in ONE YEAR!

I NEVER thought I would actually quit and I didn't know that I could do it but I did! I've waited a whole year to make this post!

I smoked for 24 years, 2.5 packs a DAY. I went from that to not smoking over night. I had thought I might want to try but was afraid to try for the fear of failing. But not trying at all IS failing. I saw a post by lvponies that she was planning on quitting so I PMed her and we decided to be quit buddies. She already had a quit date set and I didn't have time to prepare mentally, but maybe that was a good thing LOL! So thank you Kim for that push I needed to try.

This is my very first time quitting and though I still have times when I almost feel like giving in, I don't plan to smoke again. One day at a time! It was a hard fight and I won!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations, that is a big accomplishment and a hard thing to give up. Being smoke free is worth every anxious moment though. :aktion033:

:aktion033: Congratulations!!! :aktion033:

You have done yourself a world of good......improved your health (& your wallet! Those things are costly) and extended your life by many years. Keep it up, it's worth it.

Wow, Robin, that is one amazing feat!

I had no idea you'd quit.

Congratulations, I am so happy for you and proud OF you.

Please let me know if there is something I can do to make this easier for you. I have never smoked and don't ever want to, but I do know that what you've done is something most people can't.

Keep up the great work, girl!!!

That is one of the best things to do!!

Congratulations! Quitting smoking is hard, especially when it is such an ingrained habit for so long. I quit 10+ years ago and the urge has only come back when I'm really maxed out irritated, peeved beyond belief type of mood - so maybe 3x in the past 10 years. I haven't yet though!

You do deserve a huge pat on the back! Good for you!

Thanks!

Only a few weeks after I quit, our beloved stallion Bran died. OH THAT WAS HARD! One bad thing after another happened all year and it was the hardest year I've ever faced in my whole life but I didn't light up.

Those that smoke or used to smoke know that tobacco is a drug that is in every cell in your body. I felt pretty sick the first month. But here I am a year later with that last carton of cigs still here unsmoked. I don't feel better health wise but I know I'm better off. My grandma tried all her life to quit and she never could. Part of what kept me going was knowing she's watching over me and that she's proud of me. I did it for her too.

I'm also proud of my hubby Karrel too! He chewed for over 30 years! He quit with me! My man is awesome!

So, I'm a whole lot fatter, but I'm still here!

Yea, Robin, that's great--congratulations. I know so many people that have quit, some of them have quit multiple times, but as soon as there's stress in their lives they go right back to smoking again. You have done so well to get through some stressful times without lighting up again. Good for you!

Congratulations Robin! You have accomplished a major milestone and quitting smoking is such a difficult thing. Believe me I know how hard it is. I'm on my second year and it's still tough for me sometimes. The weight will come off when you are ready but it's minor compared to the health gains you've given your body by stopping smoking. Best wishes for continued success!!

:aktion033: :aktion033: Way to go!!!!! I quit nearly 20 years ago and am just finally getting a handle on my weight. It is really hard to quit something that is emotionally as well as physically addicting. We are all proud of you. Proud of your Hubby too. Hope the next year is much less taxing on the both of you.

Robin, you are not "fatter", there is just more of you to love! I quit 25 yrs ago BUT I confess to if the pressure gets bad I will smoke a few then toss the pack. I do not feel guilty about it, it's just a fact...better than drinking or drugs. So proud of you and Karrel.
