Oh, great going, I am so proud of you and happy for you. I quit Thanksgiving day 1987, a month after watching my mother die of lung cancer. Boy did I ever gain weight. Sure wish I had the will power to lose it like I had to quit smoking!

:aktion033: excellent, i quit just over a year ago and it is very hard,especially when your round people that smoke, i still enjoy the smell of someone elses though lol ,i put away any money i would have spent and i was able to buy another horse this year, and my computer, so its not all bad, but i think lil beginings is more addictive haha

That is absolutely wonderful!!! I am so, so proud of you!!! It only gets easier - I promise!!! I quit 8 years ago, when my first foal was born. I wanted to spend a healthy, long life with this little guy - yes, I quit smoking for my horse!! :bgrin

WOW!!!! That is wonderful Robin!!!! You should be real proud!!! I've had some friends that have quit smoking in the past and they say that their sense of smell is sharper for it.....also their hair smells like shampoo and not like smoke anymore... :bgrin

I am soooo happy for you, I know how hard it is to quit since I had smoked for nine years and quit :new_shocked: oh my gosh, it has now been 20 years ago! Hang in there, it does get easier with time. I could not start smoking again even if I tried real hard.

Congratulations :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033: I too had smoked for many years and then decided I had to quit. It has been over 10 years since I had my last cigarrette and it does get better and easier as time goes by. I have always said, it was the best thing I ever done for myself.

I'm so happy that I could share with my family here! I also quit for my horses! Cigs cost too much and I'd rather use it to take care of my babies. You've all made me cry.

You know, when you smoke, it's just one at a time, but look at this! 13531 cigarettes not smoked.

What worked for me was NOT telling myself I "couldn't" smoke, that would have made me want to even more, like a dieter saying you can't eat cake makes them want it even more. Instead, I told myself "I don't do that any more" in other words, my choice. It worked!

Also, Mona's mom inspired me too.

I'm thrilled and still in shock! :lol:

I am an ex smoker and still miss it sometimes!
