I avoided television as a kid and I still do. We do stream a few select shows on the computer, but the **** tube sits dark and silent.
I've always loved books -- I've been a lifelong voracious reader, collector of new words and connoisseur of typography (since I first noticed at age 6 that the letter "t" was different in various books). This has never changed.
My entire family drew every night once the dinner dishes were cleared. While my mare Scarlett maimed my left hand and limited my drawing ability, for many years I earned my living as an illustrator. (I still am a graphic designer and digital illustrator.)
I was always fascinated by knots and was the go-to person in my family for untangling assorted fiber disasters. I later did a great deal of macramé and still love tying knots (no granny knots here!).
