OK first we went into a dumb 2 week deep freeze...then it snowed several inches and turned to rain........now it is raining again....the bad part is my ground is still totally frozen so the water has nowhere to go except to sit ontop of the iceflows.....got up to the round pen and that whole corner of my property under about 3 inches of water.......the two equine residents were NOT happy standing up to their ankles in water......I tromped over and through their gate open found a high spot and gave them their hay.......not sure where will put them as all my fields are pretty waterlogged and these two (well one of them) cannot go in with the mares.....the barn is full of ewe's ...and the rest of the barn has crap stored in it...oh how I wish we had stalls
wacko.gif
so for now those two have the run of the place.......we need some dry weather preferably with some sun.....before we all float away

It's no better over the hill here Runamuck. My septic system is saturated and the pump can't keep up, so it's been alarming since Darrin showered at 6 this morning. No laundry, no shower, no other necessities. In the barn, water is coming up through the ground and soaking the stalls. There is no dry ground on my place to put the horses. I'm starting to stress out that they are going to start getting thrushy.

And did you see the forecast? Rain all week.

stupid stupid rain.. making even stupider mud!

My barn is wet to not wet and muddy wet but damp wet since there is just so much it is HORRIBLE they even stayed in all day today no need for them to be out on a skating rink or in the deep mud seems to be no inbetween

And actually I dont mean to sound really stupid but.. I honestly dont get it.. if it is warm enough to rain forever and make all this mud.. why on earth isnt it warm enough for the rain and air to melt the hard packed ice? I dont get it and I sure dont like it .. with the water on top of the ice well it is slick as can be.. already the UPS guy has fallen on his butt and me well my whole rear is black and blue and my T/B must think i am a total dork thank god he wears a blanket i slipped did the arms flailing trying to stop from going over backwards and managed to grab onto his blanket at which point he decided he didnt like it and promptly left- which at least pulled me off the ice and into the thick mud.. UGH

at least it isnt raining tons as in number of inches.. just enough to keep it solidly wet. I would much rather have the WAY cold we had

Yup it's stupid alright.

When I was babysitting Jinx for Erica and Sheryl, I thought I'd put him out in the round pen for a turn out, figuring I could catch him easily that way if he was nervous. The ground in there was wet in one area, but not real muddy so I through his hay out there in the dry area. Well, when it was time to bring everyone back inside, the entire round pen was mud, mud, and mud. Jinx of course had mud all over his legs.

The next day it was time for turn outs and the round pen was all frozen up, no mud, so I figured good, Jinx won't get nasty in there now and I put him back in there again. By the time the sun came out and thawed out the round pen, here came the mud bigger and badder that it ever was. So I did the normal thing: Called Michael to go in there and fish him out! Needless to say, Jinx never went back in there and I closed it off now till we can figure out how to drain it off next spring.

We had a couple of loads of gravel delivered to make roads around the barn area where we walk and drive during the summer, but guess it wasn't nearly enough. The gravel roads disappeared and are underneath the mud now. We'll be ordering ample loads of gravel in the spring cause I'm not doing this mud stuff no mo. We're all truding through mud just to get turned out into the fields.

Well to be honest I could deal with the stupid mud i guess if i had to.. but it is the mud over ice that is awful.. I can try out for Disney on Ice with all the practice I am getting

We have mud, we have enouph mud to cover the whole united states 5 times over agian!!. There is about 4in of mid where the snow was, but there is still ice that hasnt melt.

And mom and i picked up these 'rubber' boots this morning at TSC and ...making that transition from mud to ice is one heck of an expirence!

Well got the boys moved over to a pasture that is only 1/2 ice
wacko.gif
but atleast it has dry land in spots.......the roundpen now has about 6 inches of water as the water level has exceeded my bottom fence wire......and the ground is still frozen...so now we have all the rain collecting in my yard as the water runs towards us from the neighbors field

wacko.gif
and getting into my barn is taking your life in your hands.......very slippery sheet of ice......

and yes I would look like a very sad disney on ice skater....I never learned to skate...but boy have I perfected falling on my arse

OK, ladies, just pack up all that wet and send it to me. I need it BAD.

North Texas is burning. Literally. I watched a grass fire less than 30 miles from here. Another one about 50 miles away. You could see the smoke from my house!
new_shocked.gif
Plus we could SMELL smoke and hear sirens from a different direction! AND we have a high wind warning for tomorrow!
wacko.gif
No rain in sight for the next week....

So I'll take any water in any form ya can send me!

We are so dry here that I think digging a hole to Chine will not be a problem. We don't have any rain in the forcast either. So I will take the mud but not the ice. They are predicting 70 to 80 degrees here. My poor horses don't know whether to shed or keep it on.
yes.gif

Oh no, I do not do ice well at all.

I'm worse than Lisa, trust me. I have clocked more field time on my big fatt buttinsky than I care to think about slipping in the ice.

I had the old barn you know, the stalls in a shed row and there I'd be trying to push a wheelbarrow though the snow and ice and mud, now how stupid is that, I ask you?????????? Yeah and then I got real creative and loaded the wheelbarrow on top of the boys sled thinking that would work..........
wacko.gif
Now if that wasn't a sight, me dragging a wheelbarrow on a purple sled over flowing with assorted quarter horse and mini sized horse poop frozen balls. Man, I bet you can have some kind of turd ball fights with those frozen turds just a flying. Bet they're hard like rocks and would knock somebody real good if you really wanted to tick someone off that bad.

Atleast now, I can walk out my back door on the sidewalk to the driveway to the barn.

Walk about 65 or so steps from my door and be in the new barn without having to step in any mud that way. And then I'm home free inside the barn.

Hey Jerry, did I say I love you again and thank you so much for that barn?

(he really hates having to roll me around back and forth to find my right side up after I've fallen in the snow).....it gets ugly. scarry.

HI! We're back and ditto on the dang ice! We put er' in 4wheel and made it up the hill to our place and I "ain't" leavin till it's gone! Drat it I haven't even gotten out to see our little guys yet. Course Carl was out for a good long while with warm beet pulp and apologizing all over the place for being gone for two days.

Geez, neighbor girl Meghan (Bless her!)took very good care of them, even groomed and groomed so they are't too muddy, well a little but you can tell she tried real hard.

I'm due a blood test tomorrow but I'm calling and putting it off Praying for snow or else Carl will have to drive me out to go get it. At least with snow there's traction.

Horses are doing well though, seems to be good traction in our wooded barnyard so far and we left barn open so they can be in to relax where it's safe if need be.

You all stay safe too, no slippin and slidin out there

Well this morning was delightful I walked off the porch and darn near landed on butt before getting to the obvious ice...which I cannot see as it is dark during morning feed.....so after doing my penguin walk to get feeding done I headed in and got ready for work......well it warmed up a bit more and rained all day...got home tonite and the ice wasn't as bad but I darn near needed a boat to get to the barn.......

Oh great mother I give......please prove the weathermen fools and let the sun shine..please please please...ok now I am begging and it is pathetic

Runamuk I thought the same thing.. so sick of the weatherman saying this is so unusual well DUH we know that part already..

somone is playing a very sick joke with texas on fire and needing rain so badly and the north west under snow and water.... stupid weather

my horses dont want to be in for another day, the dont want to be out either it is just ICK

Over here the horses are covered with mud. The ice has melted, and all there is is wet, dirty, boot-sucking mud every where I go! I bedded the shed with straw, and every few days I go in to clean, and I am in the process of making a path with the used straw. It will soak into the mud, but hopefully it will at least thicken up the mud a bit!

Good grief, you'd think someone moved Idaho over to the Willamette Valley in Oregon!!!! How'd we get here?????

We had about a 3 week deep freeze in Central Oregon. Over a foot of snow at our place, stayed powdery and fresh the whole time because the temps were below 14 most days
new_shocked.gif
Then just before Christmas, 95% of it all melted, leaving mud. It's pretty much been raining since Christmas day. Thankfully, it seems to stop just before flooding out the barn, giving it time to soak into the ground and make the mud even worse. BUT I'd rather have worse mud than have the barn flooded! So all I ask is that it stops long enough to let it soak in once in a while.

Last year I would have been complaining profusely about this mud. BUT, the ice and severe temps were much worse for us and the critters than the mud was last year.

Can't you see that old Mother Nature looking on us with scorn...

"Okay you guys, there's just no making you happy! You want a white Christmas, and I start to give it to you, and you complain about the cold! Then I turn the heat up, and you complain about the mud! Last summer you were complaining about the drought when I gave you sunny days!!! So now, I'm watering you, and you STILL complain!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME??!!!"

I'm sure we're turning her gray!
