Do you remember last year when PETA was "investigating" the alleged mishandling/abuse of chickens by Pilgrim's Pride and specifically targeted Kentucky Fried Chicken for involvement in this issue?

I really, really liked KFC's Corporate Response to PETA, especially the part:

"This is not your warm and fuzzy animal rights group. This pressure through intimidation, harassment and invasion of privacy should not be tolerated. It is nothing short of "corporate terrorism."

I was listening to talk radio last week and the question of the day was this... Out of these 2 groups which is the MOST Radical and way of out the main stream, Is it

PETA people are completely crazy!

They are agianst horse slaughter ..along with me but i see a 'couple' positves out of it. They just think with there hearts and not there head on many issues

Leeana, yes, I agree they need to be stopped! But don't fool yourself that they don't think with their heads...this is a very focused and cunning organization with a very definite agenda.

It really ticks me off when I see celebrities who think PETA is a great cause just from their name - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - and support them financially! I saw Pamela Anderson on TV recently touting how she raises funds for PETA and then gushing on and on about her loving pets. If she took the time to find out what PETA is all about, she would realize she's putting her money into an organization who are totally against anybody owning pets! But I think supporting PETA is sort of the "in" thing to do in their crowd.

Peta helped some animals here out of a jam when no one else would and for that I am very grateful.

But I have learned this past year through this Back Porch Forum that they have so many other issues going on that I can no longer endorce them or stand behind them. And that is way sad. I think there are a very scary organization.

PETA is a group of extremeist wackos who just happened to pick animals as their cause! They are a frightening group because although they are a strange, extreme group by picking animals as a cause they get support from people who would normally have no association with such a group.

It is easy to attract people to the group by showing sad, graphic pictures of much of the cruelty that DOES exist in this world towards animals but it isn't until you really read up on them that you realise they have a much darker and warped agenda.

I think though this video highlights perfectly that even a group like PETA whose main goal, supposedly, is to save animals from their plight at the hands of humans, cannot deal with the huge numbers of animals that are born every year in response to the huge demand for pets. Unfortunately, there is not enough good homes available for them all.

PETA is a group that seems to attract alot of people who are too extreme for normal animal welfare groups and for clueless movie stars who want to make themselves feel good by 'saving' the poor defenseless animals or at least appearing to!
