I have been trying and TRYING to rope! I've been roping on the dumby and practicing off the horse! Thank God I have some good friends that only laugh at me. I'm left handed so I have to learn to be right hand to rope but sometimes I mess up and rope myself or Bud. Then the other times I'm doing good!

But is it just me not going to be able to do it or is it that I'm learning to be right-handed!

Jordon and Ashely are saying I'm just a retarded lefty (they're joking) but I staring to think their right!

edited because I can't spell either!

I don't know a thing about roping but I can tell you from a fellow lefty, not to listen to those righties! And I understand how it could be difficult, darn righties just have taken over the world and think every thing has to be done THEIR way.

But ya know what? One of my favorite phrases that I found on a magnet and have on the fridge says "Everyone is born right-handed, but only the greatest overcome it"!

So here's to the 10-12% in the world that are in their right mind!

I think I need to lay off the coffee for awhile! LOL, but still I can't get it. I might go get some professional help ( for my head and my roping problem) LOL..... I'm going tonight to barrel race and the guys are roping I guess.

Well I can do good if I could rope left handed but its all geared to right handed people so I have to rope right handed.

Im a roper and it isnt easy to pick up right a way

there are lefty ropers out there but some do decide to switch to right handed

your rope has to recoiled in the opposite direction and that can be alittle tough

NRS (national roper supply) is a good place and catalog to check out

let me know if you need some help

i might be able to help you if you had a video

it could be that the hondo placement is alittle off

not a roper here...just wishing you good luck...I am right handed, but I naturally shoot a gun/bow with the left, also throw darts with the left, but throw softballs with my right

. I always lead with my left foot even when throwing right handed. I shoot pool left handed and can bowl left handed just as good as right handed. Never tried to do things always with my right, just did what felt comfortable and I do many things with my left hand that I guess actually should be my right. But I can not write with my left hand...very wierd. Anyhow good luck, it will come to you.

it does come in handy having a left handed son, I am able to help him more than a straight righty might be able to

Raven went to a horse expo and had to rope a cow head in a baleof straw (can you tell we are not cowboy at all here)

She is left handed and never touched a rope before someone tried to help her this nice cowboy walking by laughing at me trying to instruct her ( I have never touched a rope like that before)

He gave up pretty quick when he realized she is not the most coordinated child...

BUT....

she was THE ONLY KID to rope that thing and on the first try no less and was doing it agains cowboy kids who practice all the time at home

Try learning to rope left handed..... and go with it. Or keep practicing, but it will never be that 'natural' if you are trying right handed.

I used to rope (had to on the ranch) but could NEVER get the heeling thing, so I headed and my husband did the heeling- but I really never got into roping and don't care for it that much.
