How many of you brave the crowds for that EARLY morning trip to the mall or a certain store and wait in the endless line to get in before the sun comes up only to be trampled by an old lady with a cane trying to get that last computer marked down to $499 at Walmart?

Do you have a specific store you like to shop those early morning hours at? I used to refuse to get up early on a day off to go meet up with angry men and women trying to knock me over to get that perfect gift but now, it has actually become a rite of passage. Ok well, maybe not that, but it is a nice time to spend standing in the dark with my hot coffee in a long line so far away from the store I don't even remember which store it is I am at, having some adult conversation with my mom and some free "mommy" time for myself. I guess with three young kids I am used to the "free for all" I encounter that early Friday morning.

Bring it on!

No way, never, not in a thousand years will you get me to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving!

Yikes - no way hoe-zaay!!! Actually, my mom talked me into going with her - about two years ago.

Got up at 5:00 - over to mom's by 5:30, at Walmart by 6:00 - or something like that. ANYWAY - waited in line, in the dark mind you, for a good half hour - a LONG line!! When the doors opened - no kidding - it was like a mad rush through the store to get to the choice items. YOU HAD TO RUN - who wouldnt - after getting up BEFORE THE CRACK OF DAWN and standing in line, in the dark, at a stupid store for crying out loud!! THEN - well after you had fought your way to your purchases - you had to wait - IN LINE - [SIZE=14pt]AGAIN
FOR EVER - to be checked out!!!

No way - ever agian - not my idea of a fun time. I will continue my tradition of picking up things here and there - through out the year, stashing them under my bed - to be wrapped at a later date. Mom just asked me the other day if I would like to go this Friday - "just for an hour or two" to go and hit some sales...Thankgoodness I have to work!!!

I always go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. I love it. I have always gone with one of my Moms, but now that they have both moved away I generally go by myself unless I can talk one of my daughters into going with me.

I have already done half of my shopping, but will try to finish it that day.

What I do is look at the flyers on Thanksgiving day and figure out which stores open first and what is the most important items I would like to buy. Then I figure out which are closer to each other and list the stores to hit first.

3 years ago all 3 of my daughters (16, 18, 22) went with me and we were done by 10:30, and was able to buy almost everything we were looking for. Afterwords, I would take them out to a nice breakfast. Of course they would abandon me when we got home and it was time to wrap.

The first store I am planning on this year will be Walmart. Since it opens at 5am I plan on being there by 3am, which means that I will have to leave my house by at least 2:30 to get there. They have some really nice sales this year. I plan on getting a lap top for one daughter and digital cameras for the other 2 as well as a few other things.

So, am I crazy? Yes! But then I can just relax and enjoy the month of December without having to worry about still needing to finish my shopping.

In fact they have a special where one of the mall's is opening at 1:00 a.m.

for a radio show host who's a shopaholic and she's inviting people to meet her at 1:00 in the morning, think I'll pass that one and sleep a few more hours

Oh my goodness, yes, that is one of the reasons we are going down to Oregon, no sales tax too...haha. We actually usually work it out though between my sisters & my mom.......we all split up & go to different stores & help each other out with our lists.... if there is something I need at a store they are at, they pick it up for me , or if there is something they need at the store I am at, I get it for them....saves on how many stores you have to go to. I absolutely love to go to the Farm Store...they always have great items, and since my new barn is supposed to be put up this SAt, I will need to be buying some stall mats (hope they are on sale this year)....haha. I know we are nuts....we eat Thanksgiving dinner & then we all peruse the paper to see what is worth getting. My poor husband just asked last night, are you going to drag me out shopping with you on Fri? I said, I am not sure, it depends on what we think we need..... after all, he is 6'2, I am 5'2...and he is a big guy, plus he is a cop, so he is naturally protective..haha...not that I am a shrinking violet, but I am easily ignored...he isn't....

Cam, have fun shopping, I will be thinking about you out there shopping....

Mother and I always did it and made a great day of it but no more.

It's just way too claustrophobic for me now or something. I'm getting to where I don't like these crowds of people pushing and shoving and grabbing and snotting and coughing in my hair.

But Jerry is taking us all on Saturday!

I just got an email from the Tractor Supply store and they have the rubber mats on sale for $26.98, looks like I am going shopping Friday for me & my horses. I need 4 of them and at that price you can't go wrong.

Not sure yet use to every year and loved but haven't for a long time. But I really don't have the money to spend this year.

NOPE!! I stay far away from all that....I'd rather pay full price than deal with all those people! LOL

Oh, I do and I have, but not every year.

I was scared of it for a long time, but I can be a chaos junkie sometimes and I definitely enjoyed the experience even though I was complaining half the time, that is part of the fun!

I wish I could go this year, but we have other obligations that day, though we will be in Portland, so maybe we can hit some stores later in the day.

It is a really nice feeling to have purchased some of the gifts before December even starts, too. I am usually pretty bad about waiting too long to get my shopping done.

Take care, and happy shopping but Happy Thanksgiving, first.

My email should be fixed, again, btw.
