Is anyone going to the Greencastle, PA mini auction

I heard a couple of weeks ago that they had (at that point) 189 horses consigned already. I can't wait to go. I'm like a kid in a candy store with that many minis to look at!!

Do you know what the prices usually go for? I was thinking of taking a couple geldings and a stallion.

Prices can really vary. I've seen well bred colts go for $150.00, but I've also seen loud appy stallions go for $2500.00. Prices are generally down some at the fall sale compared to the spring sale in May. Generally, colts and stallions seem to bring the lowest prices.

We have been there a few times. We were there in May and took about 5 or 6 then. Back in May stallions and geldings were selling from about $200-$600 was about the average. The Greencastle sale isn't one my favorite sales. I just don't like it being at a Stock Yard, kinda nasty. There was some really nice mares that were going cheap back then too. If there was 189 horses consigned early i wonder how many horses are in the sale. I just don't see the place holding that many horses. We are going to be at the Mt. Airy, NC sale this weekend, it is a lot closer.

Prices do vary greatly....at this sale it seems the more color the more money! We sold a 2 year old overo colt last year, he was one of the last to go and he brought 950 which amazed us. He was bred very well and had great conformation. This sale is the best in this area as in quality. You will see some horses from some bigger barns such as Reece Family and Timber Ridge (which always provides some lovely overo's). Good luck...we'll be there!!

This is the best sale in our area! The prices do vary, it seems the more color in our area the more they bring and it dont matter if they are registered!Ill be there! The sale last week at thurmont was disapointing. I hope there is better quiality at GreenCastle!
