Everyone is sleeping here and my knees are still shaking.. I need to tell someone to help me feel a little better. I really still haven't been doing much since I started passing out. After tonight, no more driving for me!!!!!! Hubby has been taking my car, so he was out of salad dressing for his lunch tomorrow. So I figured I would just hop in the car and run on over to the convient store and get him some. Well as i was driving around the little town square in Andover, Oh, i felt a little dizzy. I pulled into the parking lot and just as I put the car in park, out I went. This has me so scared. I was at the Neuologist the other day. He is reffering me to a ear, nose and throat dr. From my what is going on, he thinks I have Labyrinthitis..

: Never heard of that one before. It is ear related. I did some looking on the net and a lot of the sym. is what I have. I don't go to the new Dr now until Aug. 10th. But he didn't say I had any limitations.. So I am hanging up the old drivers lic. for a while.. I could have been killed tonight and that is just blowing my mind.. And I had the kids with me when we did a food run the other day  .. Has anyone ever hear of this "Labyrinthitis"?? And how was it treated.. I pray that they do something soon, before i really hurt myself or someone else from me fainting..

I have never heard of it but waiting for August 10th to roll around would be unacceptable in my book.

You're a walking time bomb. Doesn't matter if you are staying home or not, you are still in danger of passing out and busting your head open.

I would like you to call the doctor's office in the morning first thing and explain this to the secretary that this is an emergency situation and you cannot be left alone to pass out when ever it comes over you. If she can't juggle her appointments around, then ask for the office manager who can.

Please be careful.

I stressed that I was passing out, but i will be calling them in the morning..If they won't get me in, when hubby gets home tom. I think we will be on our way to hosp. This is way to scary.. I have fainted three times, and to me that is three times to much!! Thanks Marty and Susan, I guess the *itch mode will have to kick in for them to do anything.. And as upset I am right now, that won;t take much for it to come out!!

How horrible!! I have never heard of that! Do as much research on the net as you can on it. And many times, the specialists are just too booked up to get you in right away- they will just tell you to quit driving then and hang around the house!

You might ask them though, if they have a cancellation, if they could please put you on a list to be moved up?!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on today, but I've been hit with really bad dizziness. I can't even walk straight.. I did call, and they did up my appt to the 3rd..But he is just to busy and if there are any cance. they will call. They said just don't do much of anything  That is just so much help when you have kids and animals.. This has me pretty scared. But I guess this is all realated to my inner ear being inflamed. If that is what I do have..With proper meds it can go away, or it might be here to stay.. Thanks everyone for your concern. I'll keep you posted..

Jodie

Oh my goodness...so glad you're okay. Very scary! I've never heard of this disorder, however, I am always fascinated by medicine so I Googled the term and found some very informative websites. What I found interesting, though, is none of the sites I went to mentioned the symptom of fainting--dizziness, yes, but fainting, no.

Sounds like the advice for a trip to the doctor sooner than Aug. 3 would be a very wise idea indeed.

Keeping good thoughts and prayers for you.

I am so scred for you! I would call your neurologist and tell him what happened and that you want to be seen ASAP! May be he can call the ENT or find you one that will see you. According to what I read online this is urgent! Not wait a week and we'll see you then. What I don't understand... is that they (ie doctor's offices) always leave spaces for emergency visits  Good luck!

Labyrinthitis - Labyrinthitis is an ear disorder that involves irritation and swelling of the inner ear.
Complications

Injury to self or others during attacks of vertigo

Permanent hearing loss (rare)

Spread of inflammation to other ear areas or to the brain (rare)

Calling your health care provider

Call your health care provider if dizziness, vertigo, loss of balance, or other symptoms of labyrinthitis are present. Also call if hearing loss occurs.

Urgent or emergency symptoms include convulsions, fainting, persistent vomiting, or vertigo accompanied by fever of more than 101 degrees Fahrenheit.

This is the one i read. But i don't have a fever and am not vomiting, so I guess that is why I am not an"emergency" yet. I have the bad dizziness still today and am walikng like I am drunk

I have had it on and off for the past 5 years - and I get it 2-3 times a year. I am treated with a generic prescription Dramamine - my doc said the worst part is it can make you sleepy but it is better than having the world spin or feel like you just stepped off a boat (it was as bad as the "sealegs" I came home with after delivering a 12-meter yacht to Edgartown in 2005 when we towed through the remnants of Hurricane Irene and I was on the tender to this yacht while she was racing with the wind blowing 25 -30 knots sustained (they did not officially race until the wind dropped to 25 knots sustained - for a week I would be walking and then the world would rock violently....

I have not passed out from it but my doctor was not happy I had to pick up Ben from CT last summer with a case brewing - I told him my route was straight and the prescription did not make me sleepy so that was good.

Turning my head along with my shoulders rather than turning at my neck helped during the worst of it.

Good luck...

Denise
