Well, we moved last fall, and I anxiously waited all winter so we could get a shelter and fencing up and get the horses moved. There's nothing better than being able to look out the bedroom window or sit on the back porch and watch my horses!

Clearly they're all stressed and need a vacation.

And another after I brought the other mares home and took yearling colt out. He wasn't interested in any of the girls in heat until the grey came into heat. Huh...guess there's something about greys he likes!

Where 6 of the boys are living until we get the barn up. We had to do some shuffling around until we found an order where they'd chill out. The pony was the mellowest of the bunch and the 2 (smallest) Buckeroo guys have little man syndrome which caused some squealing and other indescribable random sounds at all hours. But they're all settled in and happy now.

A cute pic from earlier this year with 2010 colt and his "girlfriend" taking a nap. He spends far more time with her than his mother. I think mom is rather like a fast food drive through...grab a quick meal while on the way to more interesting things!

And 2010 colt. I brought him out to get his feet done and take off some fuzz so he won't be such a toasty pony!

The weather we're having is ridiculous. This is MAINE. It's not supposed to be pushing 100° ever, especially still in May. *sigh*

Happy bunch you have there! I know what you mean about temps. I'm in southern Ontario and the temps here are a lot higher than normal.

Nice pics! Haha, can anyone say lazy horses? I also liked that you used the term "little man syndrome". So that's what my littlest stallion has?

Now tell me about that fencing between your boys...? We recently moved too, and I've got 9 crammed between 6 stalls right now, as the existing fencing would likely fall off the posts if my horses sneezed.

Quite at a loss as to how to keep Godzilla - errr, I mean my stallion - secure in a pen LOL!

I think they're enjoying their time off. A lot of them have been show horses and in a stall a lot, but after losing my job and then moving I won't be showing this summer. It's the first time in about 10 years I've had the chance to wake up, look out the window and see my horses

The boys setup was designed primarily because it's what we had on hand, but it's working great. They're actually separated by dog kennel panels. The back of the pens is the 4' field fencing the girls have for pasture. We figured it would save some $ if we just put them up along the fence line and threw tarps over for shelter (and to keep the girls from having direct contact!) and it seems to be working so far. We used screw eyes to secure the dog kennel panels into the fence posts (literally screwed them in through the wire) and used metal bars driven into the ground to secure them in the front. They're tied with heavy duty poly ties and the good old standby of baling twine as a "backup". I wanted to use 4 x 4's at the front too so I could mount the gates and have the panels more secure, but we're really trying to keep costs down any way we can. HOPEFULLY we'll have a barn in a few months anyway. The yearling colt on the far right has the gate portion of the dog kennel, and we actually took a 50' roll of fencing and gave him his own little mini turnout so he can still socialise with his girls. The way it's set up is pretty darned sturdy since the boys like to scratch (we're talking the whole body rub where they just lay on the fence and walk down it lol) on the wire and so far it's not showing any signs of moving.
