...on the accomplishments at the just-completed AMHA World Show of one of my 'grandkid'minis...namely, "Buttonwillows Rockys Illusion", a gelding son of "Jess Rocky Rabbit", himself a many-time winner at the yearly national AMHA show as well as other big venues, who was a product of my own breeding program.
I owned both sire, "Sooner States Rocky", a 31 1/2" B/W tobi pinto, and dam(still with me at age 28 this month; Happy Birthday, Melly!)- "Sooner States Melody",a genuinely 34" daughter of "Tattoo", who in my observation was an excellent broodmare sire. I chose both from the herd of RC West, Jr. down near El Paso, in the mid-eighties. Both were lovely movers of excellent conformation and disposition, balanced, and with the appearance of full-sized horses.
My goal when breeding was to produce handsome, balanced, ATHLETIC, VERSATILE horses with good minds and dispositions, and that never changed, even as color and type fads have waxed and waned. I am proud to read of the accomplishments which indicate the versatility, obvious good temperment, and athleticism of "Rockys Illusion", for it offers 'proof of the pudding'!!
My warm congratulations to "Rockys Illusion"'s current owners/exhibitors!...wish I could have seen the videos of his classes and the 'Parade of Champions'?, pointed out to me by a friend who was exhibiting...miserably slow dial-up prevents.
