LB on iPhone and iPad

I recently discovered that for some reason I can't reply or start threads while using my iPad. It is only affected at this site and a Pinto (Ford kind) site that I go to. All other forums I visit, I can post using the iPad.

The strange thing is, I can post using my iPhone, on both the affected forums. The iPhone and iPad, as far as I know, are based and use the same systems to run. So why would the iPhone work, but not the iPad?

Any techies out there that might now the answer? ML, could this be the way the forum is set up?

Sure would like to figure it out because I am on my iPad a lot now. When I travel it is all I take with me.

Have you logged in while on your iPad? My Droid wouldn't let me post suddenly and had the times all wrong and I realized it was because it had logged me out. Once I logged back in suddenly the time zones were right and there was a "reply" button.

Just tried signing out, then back in, no luck!

It's weird, I get a reply box but when I tap in it, it won't put the cursor in, or bring up the keyboard. I can put smilies in it using the smilies to the left of the reply box. That is it though. Maybe I can make a code with smilies! LOL

HEY! I never even thought of checking in here with my phone...cool! I have a Galaxy S (droid) and just posted on the Mini Horse part successfully...so it must be something to do with a setting on your Ipad??

I've got the same phone! My only problem is when they did the forum upgrade, it went to a "mobile version" of the site which won't let me do everything.

I can't use emoticons (the little smilies) when replying from there for instance. Bummer! I wish it would do like FB does and allow you to choose between the mobile site and the full site. I'd much rather use the full one. That's why I've got a "real internet" mobile phone.

They are coming out for a fix on the "mobile version" only, or for the iPad issue? If it is the mobile version, I can't wait! I hate mobile versions of websites. I too bought my iPhone just for being able to surf the web in "real" computer versions!

As far as the iPad issue. I am going to see if my son's new iPad will work with the site or not.

I think from what I am reading your board is already fixed, but they have to download the app I gave in the link?

Can you guys let us know if you are using that app and if it fixes the issues?

Im going to email Bill and see what he says, but he maybe on the road today.

I have an android and I am hoping they will come out with that soon as on my phone forums look odd and are hard to navigate.

I do think as the popularity of smart phones go up more will be using them to view forums.

Just how many people out there use their I-phone/Ipad to view this forum?

I have an Android but still use my Dad's iPad sometimes as it's occasionally easier to see things in the "big picture." I would not use an app- I want to use the full website. The app-like "mobile site" sucks enough as it is.

Well, okay. That isn't fair. It does some cool things but it won't show me who originally made the post, just the last poster, and I can't zoom in on the pictures by pinching like I could when it showed the full website version. Not seeing who made a thread especially limits my browsing as that's a large determiner of what I look at. I'm not going to waste all that download time just to check each and every thread to see if it's one I care about!

So instead of actively browsing the forum on my phone I only use it now to keep up on threads I already know about. It could be so much better....

I always have mine set to pick up wifi, so download time isn't an issue. Aside from smilies, it is pretty good, and it still tells me what the post is, doesn't matter to me who posted it if it is something that interests me. Now the picture-pinching is a bummer though. LOLOL!

I downloaded the app and what it does is put the "mobile version" on the iPad! Yuck, lol! I can post in it though . So it seems like that if one uses the mobile version on their phone or iPad they can post too, but if they use the full version , it will not let them post.

I tried using my son's iPad and it did the same as mine, not letting me post in full version mode!

I bought my iPad to travel with and to be able to visit my favorite forums. It works for all my other forums except for this one and one other. I really think it is how the board is put together, it's allowances and such. Reason I think that is because how it will work under the mobile version, it is set up different then the full version, so it has something that the full version is leaving out!

Ok, I posted my last post from the iPad using that app. I don't like it because you don't get the full thing and it won't rotate when you tip your iPad to the wider side. So it is really hard to type on the smaller keyboard. Edit, OOPS, just realized my kid had my rotate locked. I will have to figure out how to turn it off so I can try again. Edit again, it does rotate. My screen was just locked. Still don't like it though! LOL

Like I said, it is just with this site and one other. I can got to Pashnit a m/c site and it works, I just tap in the reply box and a cursor is inserted and my keyboard comes up. I don't know what the differences is in servers, but one must have something different to allow it to work on one and not on another.

All it means is when I am on vacation I can't post. I would just be able to read, which is kind of a bummer, but I guess I can surf then if I really wanted to post, go to that app and use the mobile version. I was just hoping there was an easy fix, but if it is a pain, don't worry about it. I doubt many people surf that much on the iPads, yet! LOL

This is why I made the post, wanted to see if it was just my equipment or what! LOL

I am thinking that there has to be some sort of code or something on a website, particularly in the reply box, that tells our equipment to bring up the keyboard. Something has to tell it that we tapped inside the area. I'm just not that techy to figure it out! LOL

It must be a setting that is off on your phone then Leia...the keyboard comes up on mine.
