This hasn't been brought up for a while and with all the new people here and the new barns built I thought it would be neat to see everyones barns. Even if you posted it before lets see it anyways! I can't wait to someday have my own barn!!

Thanks,

Gage

My barn is very plain and simple, but I did love it...I say did..as I have sold all my horses and in 2 weeks the last two will be delivered and my barn will then become a shed for all of hubby's junk.

It was originally 10x25 - 2 10x10 stalls and a 10x5 tack area when I only had 2 minis.

HPIM1069.jpg

then I got two more minis and we added the overhange and hog panels (painted the wood on the overhang since this pic was taken). 2 minis shared each stall and the doors where left open to the overhang part creating a 10x10 outside area too...(one overhang area is 10X15)..basically allowing 20 X10 area for 2 minis each. I only locked my minis in at night normally, but still left the area open for them to go in barn or stay in overhang area. During the day, I closed the barn doors and left the overhang doors open for them to go into for cover if needed, although, they always chose to stay outside in the weather

I didn't have room to store hay/bedding in there, so I stored that in a 10x10 shed we have and stored my cart/harnesses in the garage, but did keep a couple bales of hay in the tack area. I don't have water down there so hooked up a hose to use in the summer/fall, etc...but come freezing I would have to haul water down there.

Ours isn't totally finished yet, but here it is. There are now 19 6X8 stalls (they are only in at night and in bad weather and are small enough that this is sufficient space for them to lay down and move around comfortably) and we plan to add several more down the center isleway. The barn is 32'wide X 60' long.

Edited to add that there are roll up doors on both ends and automatic waterers in each stall

They are just row style pole barns and the stalls are 8x12 each.

I LOVE looking at barns "))

This is my barn, 7 stalls, 10x10, a loft and tackroom.

Everything is down low so they can all see out and see

each other, except the door to the outside are full size.

Ok Gage, I went outside and took these just for you.

It's a nice barn, a good barn, and I like to keep it nice and tidy like the horses.

It's very servicable and what I call a "using barn" because it gets plenty of use.

It's partially decorated for Christmas at the moment.

Dan will probably add some lights and a wreath.

WE ARE LOVING THE PICTURES. OUR BARN IS MOSTLY FOR BIG HORSES. WE PLAN ON CHANGING IT FOR BOTH MINI AND BIG. OUR BARN IS WOOD BARN.

THANKS MELISSA

This is a very interesting thread! I am gathering ideas for my barn as I am looking at what you all have. At the time being, we do not have a barn, but our little mini isn't here as of yet either..... can't wait till Christmas! Even though she will be our childrens, I feel like I am getting her for Christmas myself, LOL!

Looking through my pics I realized that the only pics I have of my barn are when we have our rare snow days! I'll have to take some one of these days just to show the barn. It's a 6 stall barn that was/and still is/ set up for big horses. Right now I have 4 horse stalls and a tack room. The other stall used to be a pig pen with farrowing area but I plan on converting it back to a stall. The stalls are 10x10 mostly, one is a big horse foaling stall and is bigger, as is the tack room on the opposite side. I have pipe corral runs out the back of each stall.

I also recycled this(ouch!)

100_0385.jpg

into this run in shed for the pasture

and of course had to build this for the truck and trailer!

I still want one more large run-in shed for the larger pasture. :bgrin Then I'll be done........except for some fencing, painting, new roof on barn.......okay, I'll never be done! :bgrin

l love looking at barns here's my favorite but it's only a peice of art done on boards on my reading room wall. But l never tire of looking at it it just makes me feel cozy and peaceful for some reason..love the old ones.

dreambarn.jpg

This is today at about -27 plus lots of wind out there all tin but holds 21 round bales the trailer has a mega large tack/feed room small arena for the horses to lunge/train in and has 8 stalls with one old mare who's 26 in there right now nice and cozy because she was shivering when l was out feeding this morning. The whole inside of the barn is insulated and done in wood to the rafters and the stall walls are all in puck board for easy cleaning. lt's already been added to twice and will have another addition on the end side next spring for a wash rack/bathroom so l don't have to run in the house or behind the barn anymore.

WE HAVE 30 ACRES OF FEILDS SECTIONED INTO 5 AREAS ALL WITH SHELTERS, MY FAVORITE ARE THE ONES FROM FARMTEK WHICH ARE DOME STYLE AND ARE EASY TO MOVE IF NEEDED. THANKS FOR LOOKING! Thank you all for the pics!! Seeing those barns in the winter just looks so cozy. I can't wait to someday have my own barn full of little minis. If there are still more pics of barns out there I would LOVE to see them!

Thanks,

Gage

What a fun thread! Love seeing so many different barns.

Here is a link to our old website - that has photos of our barn before we put lights in it (still don't have running water - and still don't have an enclosed tack/feed room)

http://hometown.aol.com/foxhollerfarm05/fo...ller_000005.htm

Here is one photo of the exterior of the barn -- its a 40 x 48 barn. The webpage has lots of details about the insides.

We built our barn 5 years ago. We visited many, many barns to obtain ideas on how it should be designed. It is 144X80 pole barn - the front section has 27 stalls, wash room, groom room, grain room and attached to the very front is an apartment (we stay in the apartment during foaling season). The back section has long run in sections with 4 separate dry lots that go back to the primary pastures. We bring all of the horses up each night.

This is an earlier photo of the stalls - the aisle is now matted to keep down any dust - We really like the open stalls (we store our hay on pallets on the ground) as it is easy to walk down the entire barn and check on all of the horses and our camera system can view several stalls (entire stall area) per camera. We designed the asile to be 14 ft wide so it is easy to drive equipment through the barn and we have large industrial floor fans at each end and in the center of the barn for ventilation. I sure spend more time in the barn than in the house

I love all of your barns. It is so nice to see these new and old barns with modified stalls for minis and all those adorable little heads poking over the stall doors! I'm too embarrased to post pics of our barn as we bought a place with a 100 year old hip roof barn. Most of it was piled a foot to more deep in doodie and we just last weekend got the last area cleaned out (after living here for 10 months). My back shall never be the same. My husband has built four stalls for the big horses and so far one for the minis. He also has added a tack room and 3 different chicken coops for me. He's very handy and we have had to start from scratch with the wiring and all, but I love it. I too spend a lot of time just sitting on a hay bale or loving up my four legged friends in the barn. I know that in time it will be the barn I always wanted. But for now, everyone is snug and warm on those cold winter nights and cool in front of the fans on hot summer days, so I'll have to be content! I did find one picture (not very good, sorry) of the outside.

Here are some pictures of our barn that my brother/father/husband built for Lizzie and I. It is small but we just have the 2 mini's so it is big enough. Still working on getting electrical out there.

Here is another angle that I did.

HPIM1628.jpg

Here is the inside...there is just their stalls and a small area where we cross tie and have grain/hay. Just enough room

I love looking at all of these barns.
