We had 12 members tonite. It was awesome. I need some 4-H ideas with minis. Our next meeting is Dec 12, 2005. We do have some plans though. We plan to see if we can add more performance classes.

no comments these kids are future to the breed

Sorry Dazzler. this topic must have got pushed down before I saw it last time you posted. I think it is GREAT and 12 members will be plenty for your first run through... enough for lots of fun (and a little friendly competition between them), but few enough to keep track of easily! Encourage your kids to ake part in the other aspects in the club if possible, like speech competitions and whatnot, the 4H program gives the most benefits to the kids who use the whole organization rather than just tapping the resources of their project leaders, who still mean the world to some kids, especially those that come from rough homes, or love the project bu can't afford to take it up on their own (as is often the case with livestock projects).

I think your involvement with this is great and its something I hope to do, and for my future children to do in later years. 4H is good cause there is something for everyone, and always room to expand to new horizons. My how the organization has changed and grown, thanks to leaders and volunteers like yourself!

I think people just missed your post..great job and keep on keeping on with the club. What fun! Maxine

I almost missed this post too...caught it before the page turned! Our club has been running for a couple of years now & we've completed several projects. We've covered entry level stuff like grooming, handling...to breeding, dwarfism...to natural horsemanship. I ask the kids what they are interested in pursuing. We also show quite abit during the season with clinics & practice days at the farm. Parades & other community activities fill in whenever possible. We have fundraisers, work with special needs classes, visit retirement homes...and have lots of fun, fun, fun!! I try to take advantage of whatever is happening, like when the foundered rescue donkey came & that lead us to research his condition. During breeding season we are all (intimately) involved with the hand breeding. Vet visits have been scheduled for days when kids are off school & have included hands-on gelding! Even the farrier can be a interesting, learning experience. We started off just as a grooming club & look where it has gone! Good luck & hope you have tons of fun!!
