It's VERY COLD here today, so I thought I might get some heat about this topic

Yea Rush. :bgrin

That is great! and also very funny.......Rush is going to have a blast on his show about that -- especially once he does his homework. And knowing Rush he WILL do his homework!

Yes, I listen to Rush whenever I can, but don't agree with him 100 percent of the time. He and Hannity tend to be hard line radical conservatives. I tend to be more moderate conservative.

Thanks for sharing that.

Well, with the people that they stated being in the bunch, his drug addict self will just fit right on in.

Go Rush!! He was in hysterical laughter about it yesterday.

: Only liberals win this. If you don't believe me go take a look at the past winners.

Of course, Al Gore got nominated too, but then good ol' Al did invent the internet and better yet he is scaring the heck out of children with his latest documentary they are showing in schools about how we will all be dead in 10 yrs due to global warming.

Al can yammer all he wants...this planet has been through this cycle before......anyone recall the ice age...or maybe the dinosaurs?? We may be increasing the speed of climatic change but apparently "dino farts" did the same in the past leading to the demise of the dino's. I am actually the most conservative liberal or liberal conservative you could ever meet....................I believe the word conservative derives from the word conserve so my wanting to conserve energy, conserve forests, conserve open spaces, conserve energy............should realistically make me very conservative ......don't cha think

How sad it is that SCIENTISTS can say the Earth is warming because of us, but of course people wont listen. Yes, its probably a natural cycle as well, but WE are why its a warmer cycle and a faster one. SCIENTISTS say we havent been this warm in millions of years. But then when they have a report from scientists that was edited by a one time fossil fuel lobbiest , who now works for Exxon/Mobil, and they believe it over the scientists, we are a sad pathetic lot. Just glad the scientists that wrote the reports were able to speak and flamed that idiot.

Anyone that doesnt think we are helping this along ever even open Science mags or watch the Science channel? Or do you just get your info from what 'your party' wants you to know? No wait, I know the answer, no one could think that way if they actually did their own research.

Global warming is a misnomer. While the average temp is rising, this will cause many things including record lows, record highs, droughts, more intense storms and changes in weather patterns worldwide. If the Earth warms up enough so that the polar/greenland ice sheets melt too fast, this can shut down the oceans conveyor ( which allows Europe to be temperate and the same latitude that polar bears live) and this will bring a halt to the gulf stream etc and plunge us into another ice age. Eh , but who cares, big business tells us its natural, its only scientists that say otherwise. Its not like big business ever lied about smoking being bad, or lead being toxic etc etc etc etc  Besides, we wont be here, just YOUR kids and their kids and their kids.

Do you know why "Greenland" was named "Greenland"? It used to be a fertile place not covered by ice and snow. 98% of the poles are getting MORE ice not losing. Nature will take care of itself without man trying to butt in.

I don't belong to any party......I am independent. I have done research into the global warming subject and even scientists will say the dinosaurs had a similar effect. Yes we are screwing up this planet in many ways but global warming is the least of our problems at this point.

Give me a break!

Not even Rush Limbaugh believes a word he says...he a total fraud who has found a great way to make a buck.

I agree with Rori in that there is nothing "conservative" about throwing all caution to the wind, declaring Al Gore a wacko, or blythely driving our SUVs when we could carpool or drive an econobox.

As horse caretakers, we gather all the information we can, look at evidence and make our own decisions based on their interests rather than our own. Often we err on the side of caution, even resisting vets and manufacturers who say things like "Bute is fine for minis" or "There is no evidence of problems with _________"

Why would we not do the same for our planet? Does it need to die before we act? Why would we believe self-serving politicians and big buck corporations who say global warming is a myth if there is even the slightest chance of it being reality?

Yes, the earth would take care of itself if we had left it alone, but we haven't, and now is the time to become good, or even halfway decent, stewards. Instead of making fun of dire warnings, or acting defensively, take even small steps toward doing your part.

Living on ranches and farms, we truly do need our big trucks, but there are still ways of limiting your fuel consumption...how about carpooling? Although it is a pain, Keith and I own just one vehicle and drive as little as possible. Although we live in the tullies, we still walk and bike where we can, and we always combine errands. Our community has a dial-a-ride bus, and I frequently ride that. Although we have a well, we conserve water as if we were paying for every drop.

These are puny little things, and nothing to boast about. But the little things really do count, and we can all do something to make things just a bit better.

I'd love to see a truly conservative approach to the environment...of course, Georgie and his cronies wouldn't recognize it!

Actually, the Greenland fact is dead wrong. Greenland was named such by a Viking ( cant recall which, think it was Eric the Red) to get some of his people to follow him there to set up a new colony.

98% of the poles are NOT gaining ice, what a load of horse hockey that one is. I went to Iceland last spring and they had markers at the base of a few Glaciers marking out how much recedence there has been and its been far more rapid in the last decade. Please actually do research before stating something as fact when it clearly isnt. It is widely believed by scientists and naturalists that our ice packs are receding incredibly fast. Just look at the satellite photos. Not only are they receding, they are loosing depth.

Nature will take care of itself, She will tire of us idiot humans with our heads up our politicians butts and wipe us off the face of the Earth.

Global warming may be the least of our worries for the moment. I am just glad that I wont be around in future generations when we are known as the Stewards of the death of the human race. Dinosaurs didnt burn fossil fuels, they didnt warm the planet and if someone can actually say that their 'gas' did, please show the facts and the Scientist ( a known scientist and not one in politicians/fossil fuels) back pocket. Anyone can find someone to back up what they want to promote. Its something else when some 90% percent of a group all say the same thing.

Erik the Red - Leif Eriksson's father.

"In the 960s Erik the Red, a fiery Norwegian, was exiled from his home in Norway. He went to Iceland, where he married Thjodhildur. He was later banished from there for three years. Erik headed west and discovered a land with an inviting fjord landscape and fertile, green valleys. He was greatly impressed by the land's resources, and he returned to Iceland and spoke about this land, which he called "the green land".

In 986 he set out from Iceland at the head of 25 ships, heading for Greenland. There were 500 men and women on board. Of the 25 ships only 14 reached their destination.

The Vikings founded Brattahlid and the two hamlets of Vesterbygden and Østerbygden. Around the year 1000 the population was approx. 3,000, living in 300-400 farms. This small community survived for 500 years. Why they disappeared is still a great mystery. "

A graphical description of changes in temperature in Greenland from 500 – 1990 A.D. based on analysis of the deep ice core from Greenland and some historical events. The annual temperature changes are shown vertical in ˚C. The numbers are to be read horizontal: 1. From 700 to 750 A.D. people belonging to the Late Dorset Culture move into the area around Smith Sound, Ellesmere Island and Greenland north of Thule. 2. Norse settlement of Iceland starts in the second half of the 9th century. 3. Norse settlement of Greenland starts just before the year 1000. 4. Thule Inuits move into northern Greenland in the 12th century. 5. Late Dorset culture disappears from Greenland in the second half of the 13th century. 6. The Western Settlement disappears in mid 14th century. 7. In 1408 is the Marriage in Hvalsey, the last known written document on the Norse in Greenland. 8. The Eastern Settlement disappears in mid 15th century. 9. John Cabot is the first European in the post-Norse era to visit Labrador - Newfoundland in 1497. 10. "Little Ice Age" from ca 1600 to mid 18th century. 11. The Danish-Norwegian priest, Hans Egede, arrives in Greenland in 1721.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Greenland

Well I tried :bgrin Pepipony seems to be the only one turning the "heat" up a little. At least it isn't as bitter cold out now

Correct, like I said, the Viking who found Greenland, went back and lied about it to have others follow him there. He was banished from Iceland and from Norway and he had nowhere else to go. Its hard for a few people to survive such a climate, so he fenagled others into following him. Yes, Greenland has fertile valley etc, but they fail to mention how cold it gets LOL Kinda like how Iceland is portrayed as being 'temperate' because of the Gulf Stream. Rather hard to get visitors if they were bluntly honest. Its the Viking way to stretch the truth a bit.

People all over Greenland and Iceland now are stating that the Glaciers have receeded far in the last few decades with the last being the worst. There will always be some that say this or that is or isnt true. The futeure will tell out who waas correct. Just a shame that we wont be there either way and those that come will have to deal with our ignorance.

I suppose us lowly humans are responsible for the sun and Mars being hotter too. Wonder how we did that.

While the ice caps may be melting in the north the ones in the south are growing. I think thats called NATURE!!!

As for the scientists saying its so, there are just as many that say its a load of huey.

As for Rush, I can only assume that those of you who don't care for him have not listened to him. I don't mean for a few minutes I mean for weeks, and really listened. The biggest reason he is disliked by someone is that he can prove what he says. He has a library of tapes of politicians and what they have said in the past. A short while later they say something else and swear they never said the first thing. They don't like it when Rush brings on the tapes and plays it in THEIR own words.
