I brought my little guy home this afternoon with a whole pharmacy!!!!

It has been explained that it is not typical pneumonia...but his body has had an allergic reaction to this virus that has hit a lot of horses in our area. There is fluid build up throughout the body and just no way for such little ones to get rid of it. When a full size horse has this type of reaction to a virus they use steriods...but that's not safe for babies. It just makes me sick to watch him breath...and there is nothing I can do...but keep praying that he is able to keep his strength up and continue to fight this off. He is on lasik to help with the fluid...but there again...he is little and lasik can only be used for a short period of time...also a bronchodialtor and antibiotics and also a high calorie supplement to help keep his strength up. So we have three shots in the AM and about 1/2 hour after that he gets ulcerguard then more meds in the evening. He and mom...of course will be stalled as he stresses way to much just breathing...let alone walking around. When the sun is out the vet said I could take him out for a short time to nibble grass.

Just wanted to let all of you that have kept him in your prayers that he is hanging in there.

Thanks so much

Becky

Poor little guy. It sounds like it's heartbreaking to watch him go through this. I'm praying for a full recovery.
