Hello all,

I lost a fur child this morning and I am kind of a mess. I was very attached to him.

He was my orange tom cat, Gallaghar. I have three cats, two toms and a spayed female. I am attached to each, but Gally stuck himself in my heart differently than the others, if you know what I mean.

He was a stray that waltzed into the yard when he was a few months old. He had some injuries, he had been hit by a car, I am guessing.

I think that is what ended his life as well. He had a lot of common sense, that one. We live about a little under a mile from a busy highway, and my guess is he went out there for some reason, got hit and recieved internal injuries.

He then walked all the way home.

There were no marks on him, no outward bleeding. His breathing was shallow, his pupils were dialated, and he was unresponsive to anyone but me.

I wrapped him one of my shirts, and fashioned a bed out of some blankets we had out in the garage. I made him comfortable, and said goodbye and told him I loved him

This morning my dad found him, dead, with my other tom cat curled up beside him, guarding him. I take comfort in knowing he was not alone at the end.

I miss that big guy.

This last one, I was laying down after working one of the horses and the two toms came and took that as an invite to sleep on me.

Oh Sammy, I am so sorry to hear about your big guy!! Sounds like he sure loved you! He was a lucky boy the day he found you. He'll be waiting for you! Hugs!!!

I am so sorry for your loss of Gallagher.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Take comfort in knowing he wasnt along in the end, and made it home to you, and passed with his buddy at his side.

I am so sorry to hear about Gally. I know what ya mean about being attached to these guys. I lost my big long haired white tom last year. He was 5 yrs old and I had raised him from a kitten. He was huge also like your tom. At least he came home to you, my Sidney never did and I never found him after looking endlessly for him. I still expect to go out and find him on the cat perch. But I do have his son that looks exactly like him. Thank goodness. I miss my Sidney and sometimes I call PeeDee, Sidney........lol

Oh no.. so sorry you lost him. ((HUGS))

That's the way it is with toms, they like to wander and give us gray hairs.

We thought we lost our Tom Tom , he was gone for about 10 days, I was dreading if he came back all tore up, but he came home yesterday in good health. I know someday he won't make it back...Just love them for the short time they are here.

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet boy. I love my cats too. I mean, I really LOVE them, they are my kids. I send you hugs and also to your other Tom cat who is missing his buddy. Give him an extra hug.
