My new little horse has gone over the rainbow bridge. I just got her sunday afternoon. She got out of her paddock sunday night and I was out all night looking for her. I found her yesterday morning, she had been hit by a truck. He was with her petting her and trying to help her. By the time I found a horse trailer and talked to my vet (who is also my good friend) she had passed. My sweet Cameo made a "cameo" apperance in my life and will never be forgotten. We have alot of snow right now and she managed climb a high snow bank and go over the fence. And then once she got onto the road in the dark she couldn't get off it cause the snow was all too deep. She was only 30" tall and very pregnant. I am just sick about it all.

OMG how awful for you... i am so sorry!! at least the guy stopped... we lost our dog last fall and the person that hit her just kept right on going...

{{{hugs}}}

Thank you everyone. Susan, I am sorry to hear about your dog. This guy kinda had to stop as he slipped into the ditch and got stuck but he didn't have to sit outside with her. It was -27c and windy so he could have sat in his warm truck but he was petting her and talking to her. I had to run back and forth to my house to find phone numbers and stuff and get hubby and the kids (too little to leave alone) and he stayed with her. She actually died in his arms before I got back and my husband said this guy wouldn't accept that she was gone. He was really tore up and kept apologizing and stuff but it was an accident all the way around. Very, very sad and i can't stop crying.

Good warning, and so very sorry you had to learn this way. I am so sorry for your loss.

We shovel our drylots next to the fence as well as the driveway when it snows.

We too had one get out by walking over the fence on a drift, but he came to the front door.

So sorry for your families loss.

What a horrible accident! I'm feeling for you, your family, the truck driver, and the folks you got your little mare from. Be kind to yourself.

: I'm so sorry this happened. Thanks for the reminder to check fences.

What a horrible tragedy for all concerned.

I don't have that kind of snow, but often wondered how people that do, handle it. Hopefully by posting this, you have helped someone else.

Please accept my condolences. I can tell you heart is aching.
